The Sunday Post : Get your bookish news – Darkness into Light 2019

May 12, 2019 meme, The Sunday Post 45

Welcome to The Sunday Post, a weekly meme hosted by Kim the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  Grab a cuppa and let me bend your ear (eyes?) for a few minutes with all my bookish news.   This Saturday was the global Darkness into Light walk and I feel privileged to be part of such a powerful event.

Between My Sundays – what happened this week

Three Day weekend

Last weekend was our May Day bank holiday, and it was so lovely to have the long weekend.  We went to the beach on Saturday, and well wrapped up had a long long walk on the strand.  Then a yummy dinner out.  On Sunday, we went to a nearby city.  There was an international choral event on, so choirs and free performances were staged around the streets.  Which made it fun to wander around, and listen to.

Darkness into Light 2019

I try to walk the Darkness in to Light walk every year, as I love that it fund raises for Pieta House, and raises awareness around suicide, self-harm and mental health.  Getting up at 3am is torture, but always so worth it.  Such an emotional but hopeful event to take part in.  And listening to the dawn chorus and watching the dawn rise is magical.  I’m here now writing this after coming back from it, and so happy that I made the effort to go out and do it.

Such a lovely event, and we literally walked from the darkness into light, which fitted so well with the idea behind the walk.

The Darkness To Light walk sounds like a great event. A bunch of my colleagues did the London Moonwalk for breast cancer this weekend so it must have been the week for night walks!

  2. Kendra

I really want to read Top Secret and Let Me Lie. Top Secret I have heard amazing review about and I love Elle Kennedy and Sarina Bowen soo yeah!! I ope you have a great week!!

That sounds like a fun event! I love going to events like that, too!

I’ve seen a lot of bloggers get TOP SECRET and I’m super curious about it!

  4. Sam@wlabb

What a wonderful event! Sounds like it was well worth the effort. I have read two of Mackintosh’s books, and enjoyed them both. Hope you like all your new reads.

I love that events like this exist and am delighted that I have one local to me, as I love taking part.

Mental health causes are so important. Suicide has touched my family twice, and the aftermath never leaves you.

Thanks for visiting my blog, and enjoy your week.

I’m so sorry to hear that Laurel, I think the more we talk about these topics and raise awareness the better.

I love the whole concept behind Darkness into Light and then that walk literally does just that. It’s a fab event.

I think I was still half asleep! But the cold and the walk definitely woke me up pretty quickly!

  6. Tanya @ Girl Plus Books

Darkness in to Light sounds like a wonderful cause/organization. What a great thing to take part in. I one-clicked Top Secret last week, too, and can’t wait to read it. Sarina Bowen + Elle Kennedy writing together is always fantastic!

Hope we both love Top Secret, it sounds fab. I haven’t read either author before, so I’m looking forward to trying both now.

  7. Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer

Darkness in to Light sounds amazing as does the choral concert. Yay for 3 day weekends. Ours is coming at the end of the month. I am so ready. 🙂 Loving your haul. I need to go check out a few that caught my eye.

  8. Lola

Sounds like you made the most out of your three day weekend! Standing up at 3am sounds tough, but what a great cause to stand up for.

I am curious about Top Secret, it sounds good. Looking forward to hear your thoughts about it. I hope you’ll have a great week!
