The Sunday Post : Get your bookish news – Come What May

May 5, 2019 meme, The Sunday Post 37

Welcome to The Sunday Post, a weekly meme hosted by Kim the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  Grab a cuppa and let me bend your ear (eyes?) for a few minutes with all my bookish news.   Can you believe it’s May?

Between My Sundays – what happened this week

Come What May

I’m keeping my goals for the month simple, straightforward and achievable.  And I’m going to update weekly on my Sunday Post to try and stay accountable this month.

  • Yoga 3 times a week
  • Average 70 steps per week
  • Join my gym’s new weight loss challenge
  • Go the cinema once during the month
  • Read at least 2 books I’ve bought myself, and not all the ARCs!

Favourite moment

Smelling this gorgeous rapeseed field crop.  It smells as a good as it looks!

What I’m Watching:

GOT!  Holy Moly, my nerves were shot to pieces last week.  Bring on episode 4!

Derry Girls:  I love everything about it.  The 1990 setting in Northern Ireland, the cast, the humour.  I need more fun shows like this in my life.

All the best for your goals for the month. I like the movie one, I always have the best of intentions about going to movies but I never action it, which is strange really.

    • trish

Me too! That’s why I set a goal of going once a month, otherwise I could go a year without going! And it is something I enjoy.

    • trish

It’s used to make rapeseed oil (similar to sunflower oil). Ohh I’m wondering what else you had an issue with in GOT. Would be a great topic to post about.

  2. Susan

I am completely convinced that the boy and I are the only ones not upset by the cinematography in GOT

    • trish

Nah my husband had no issue either. I kept complaining that I couldn’t see anything and he kept saying that’s how a battle at night would feel!

  3. Nicci @ Sunny Buzzy Books

I loved last weeks GoT episode too but the meme’s about the lighting are spot on! lol. I know it was a night battle and I applaud them for the realism but… I wanna see!

Rape seed fields always look so pretty but they set off my hayfever something fierce! My eyes would probably swell shut if I tried to read overlooking one, it’s bad enough living a stone’s throw from several of them, lol.

Enjoy your week and good luck with your goals this month.

I need to get back into a fitness routine. Good luck and good for you! I always claim I will read my own books, and then I get some from the library. I am the worst!

  5. Vi @Inkvotary

I guess I am one of the very few who have not seen every season or every episode of GoT. With no Netflix or Amazon TV in the house, I can only watch it on Free TV. But I hope you´ll have fun tonight with it.

Like the book covers very much you got new. And good luck with your gym class.*smile*

    Best wishes
    Vi

  6. Lola

Those sound like good and doable goals for this month! Good luck with them! It’s good to make some time for the books you bought as well. I also like doing some yoga, usually only once a week tough.

I am not watching GoT, but I keep seeing posts about it on social media. Seems like a lot of people are enjoying this latest season.

We just finished watching Star Trek Discovery season 2.

I hope you have a great week!

Some very good goals for the month, I really like the book and movie ones. IO have a question about the steps though. 70 a week? You can do that in 5 minutes. Typo?

I’ve never watched GoT and don’t want to but people are so excited I can’t help but smile. Enjoy!

    Have a good week!

  8. Tanya @ Girl Plus Books

Good luck with your weekly goals. I just recently completed a six week beginners yoga series and really enjoyed it.

GoT… gah! The Battle of Winterfell episode about did me in. I wasn’t necessarily enjoying it but I couldn’t look away for a second. Can’t wait for tonight’s episode!

The Hunting Party is one I’m really looking forward to – I’m on the wait list at the library for it!

  10. Greg

Episode three was super tense, and episode four was… interesting in different ways!

I have the Night Before pre- ordered, but I like the cover you have a lot more!

Great goals Trish! I especially love your staying active goals, and enjoying the movies and books you bought! You got a lot of good looking books last week! I hope you have a wonderful week! Happy Reading!

  12. Tina @ As Told By Tina

I love your goals! I just signed up for the local YMCA and I saw they have yoga classes and I really want to go. Only, I’m really shy so I really need to work on actually going. I love the idea of going to the movies, I tend to rent movies from Redbox and I’m trying to do that every weekend so the kids and I can find something new to watch.

I hope you have a wonderful May!

The review copies you picked up all look awesome! I can’t wait to see how you feel about them! Game of Thrones last week was super confusing and there was a lot going on! I won’t talk spoilers here but I’m still not sure how I feel about last night. 🙁

Thanks for the shout out and I hope you have a great week!

  14. Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction

I’ve just started watching GoT again, and I’m way back at the end of Season 3. It’s been almost impossible to avoid spoilers lately, so I keep having to avert my eyes every time I see ANYTHING related to the show. (Not that your mention was a spoiler–it just made me think of it.) I’ve gotten a couple of hints of what’s going on (and I’ve seen some characters, so I know they’ve survived to Season 8), but it’s actually made me more eager to keep watching. Now I just have to hurry and catch up!!

I hope you did well with your goals! They do sound really reasonable. I am not familiar with Derry Girls. I see it’s on Netflix though, so I’ll have to check it out. Your new review books look really good, as does The Hunting Party. I hope you enjoy them all! Have a wonderful week!
