The Sunday Post : Get your Bookish News #recommitted

April 17, 2016 meme, The Sunday Post 25

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kim the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  Grab a cuppa and let me bend your ear (eyes?) for a few minutes with all my bookish news.

Sunday Post   *********************************************************************************************************************************

I had a productive week blogging which I’m so happy about.  You can catch up with all my news in my This and That blog post.  I’m determined to find ways to get back into blogging and if I can only sneak half an hour here and there, well that’s better than nothing.  I’m also planning a comment blitz one morning a week.  Now that it’s brighter in the morning, doing this before work is much more enticing.  I’m really looking forward to catching up with my fav blogs while enjoying a big mug of coffee, before the hecticness of my day!  Sounds like bliss!

Reading wise, I’m a bit slow reading at the moment.  But even though I’m reading slower (or well probably the same speed, just less) I’m really enjoying what I am reading.  Right now I’m dreaming fondly of that precious time when I can snuggle down with my latest read and shake off the day.

But I’ve gone totally off audiobooks!  Mostly because I’ve been loving podcasts lately so that’s pretty much all I have been listening to.  I did buy an audiobook this week though as it’s by the same author as one of my favourite podcasts – (Happier with Gretchen Rubin).

Second Chance Sunday – What happened here this week:

Second Chance Sunday – What caught my eye.  Why not go Sunday visiting?

I still need to make time for this!  *hangs head*  I SWEAR I WILL HAVE AWESOME LINKS next week as I know there are awesome posts that I have been missing out on.  And if my early morning comment blitz works out, this will be an easy promise to uphold.

Books I have received to review:

Eat Real Food

Thanks to NetGalley and Hay Books for Eat Real Food.  It fits in perfectly with my lifestyle at the moment and I’m eager to pick up any tips that I can.  I’ve been dipping in and out and I love how simple and realistic it all is.

Books I have bought:

Better Than Before

Just this one – Better Than Before.  I’m hoping it will get me back into audiobooks.  And funny enough it’s the first non fiction audiobook that I’ve ever bought.  So I’ll be interested to see how that works out for me.

Between the Lines is also on Facebook sharing details of kindle freebies and great giveaways as well as other random bits and pieces.  So if you use FB, please like my page and leave a comment so I can like you back!

Or join me on Instagram as I’m a wanna-be #bookstagrammer and I love taking photos of my books.  It is seriously one of my favourite things to do as soon as I get a new book.  I also have photos of my stationery hauls, my walks, my fitness journey and random photos of Ireland but if you only come for the books, that’s aok!

And my latest addiction is Snapchat!  I admit it I’m a sucker for social media 😀  This one is mostly about my weight loss journey (PS – I hit 3 stone lost lately and am on the final stretch to GOAL! )

So, that’s  my week wrapped up.  Happy Reading to all.

I also really love that it’s brighter in the morning. It makes me feel like I have more time in a day.. Which is rubbish off course but still.. It does feel like it.
Snapchat is so much fun.. I love seeing your snaps. I’m going to try to add more snaps this week. And the accent thing is getting much better.. I can totally understand everything you say. 😀
BTW.. Amazing job on the exercising.. I think you can be proud of yourself.
Have a great week and happy reading!!

Brighter mornings and evenings are great though, they make me feel like doing stuff! If you ever get to Ireland, you’ll be able to understand us all now! 😀 Thanks re the exercise, I have to push myself but I feel great afterwards so it’s always worth it!

It’s no wonder I have so little time for blogging when I love social media so much! Snapchat and IG are hands down my favourite, you should try Snapchat! Sorry I’m a bad influence but it’s so much fun and there aren’t many bookish folks on it yet 🙂

I’m trying to get more into podcasts and I’ve found a few I like- now I just need to make time to listen! lol

Eat Real Food looks good, no matter how much I try to eat well it always seems like I can do better! Maybe I’d get some good tips!

I’m addicted to podcasts, I love that there are so many out there, on such random subjects and that they are free!
Ditto re eating well, I think we all feel like that 🙂

That must’ve felt great to have such a productive blogging week! I am happy to see you being back to blogging a bit again. And indeed a bit is better than nothing.

And as long as you’re enjoying what you’re reading that’s the important thing! I hope this will be another great week for you!

I feel sure that I can get a system going again now and will be able to produce more consistent posts. That’s the plan anyway! And I know the May Blog Ahead will help too.

I totally agree Laura, blogging should be fun but it can feel overwhelming at times to me. I do love it though so I need to find little ways to fit into to my weekly routine again. I don’t want to break up with it!

    • trish

Slow and tasty, I love that description! I am happy with what I’m reading and enjoying it so I don’t worry about the numbers, they look after themselves in the end 🙂
Podcasts are the best Daniela, they are so varied, on every subject and free. What’s not to love!

    • trish

I don’t overly mind that I’m reading a bit less Brandi as I am enjoying what I’m reading. Earlier in the year I was in a book slump and that was awful 🙁

  4. Let's Get Beyond Tolerance

That’s great you’re finding a better system to enjoy blogging! 🙂 I’m pretty new to Instagram but I do love taking my own bookstagram photos. One day I’ll get better, but I feel like I have a few that are a bit amusing and that works for me! haha

I should check out Gretchen Rubin’s podcast because I love her books. Better Than Before is a good one!

I’m always experimenting to try and make blogging fit my fit! But I think my biggest rule should be stop procrastinating! That would help 🙂

I love IG and I’m glad I’m following you on there now also. And yes that podcast is great, it’s fun and very positive so I love listening to it.

Getting up early is finally getting easier – like you say, it’s so much better when it’s light out!
It is hard sometimes to go visit all the blogs we love, there is only that many hours per day, and I’m sure I’m missing out on some great posts. Thankfully, I also do get to find some amazing ones.
Have a wonderful week and happy reading.

I’m going to start by trying to fit in my favs Lexie! And I love the brighter mornings and evenings, all that daylight is good for the soul.

I am good early in the morning Kim but by about 11 o’clock at night I’m zapped! And no good to anyone 😀

  6. Deborah

I work well in the morning but am not a morning person and hate getting out of bed. I’m okay at night as well but tend to spend my evenings in front of TV out of habit.

PS. I left this comment before but it disappeared – so sorry if I’ve commented twice!

Sorry your comment got lost Deborah and thanks for putting it in again, I know how frustrating that is! And I’m ok in the morning but a bit too much of a fan of the snooze button, I do better if I get up before I think about it! 🙂

  7. Rita @ View From My Home

I’m glad to see you back more, and read & commented on your This n That post this week. I really don’t have use for social media, probably my particular situation as an early-retired person with a very small pool of friends and relatives. But if you are having fun on other sites, go for it! The blog and your blog followers will still be here, and your fitness is important for you so spend your time doing what makes you happiest!

Which brings me to Gretchen Rubin, lol, the happiness project author. I read her first book only, but am curious about the others she’s written. Hope you enjoy that audio.

I don’t know why I love social media so much but I am trying to limit myself more on it. Like tonight, I am doing my blog first, then a run, then housework and finally only after I’ve done all that, am I treating myself with some time on Snapchat. Of course I might sneak in a few pics on there during my run, but that only takes seconds! I need to get more disciplined and that way I can fit in everything that I want/need to do.
Do you listen to podcasts Rita? If so I recommend Gretchen’s podcast as it’s a lovely listen. It’s just so positive and happy and makes me feel good. Plus podcasts are free, so yay for that! I’m sure you’ll see a review for the book here at some stage too 🙂
