The Sunday Post : Get your Bookish News #Beginings

January 10, 2016 meme 15

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kim the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  Grab a cuppa and let me bend your ear (eyes?) for a few minutes with all my bookish news.

Sunday Post

I took lots of time off blogging in December,  I just needed the break and now I’m excited to be back in the game.  As much as I needed the break and I enjoyed every minute of it, I also missed my connection with all my blogging friends.  It wasn’t hugely obvious I was missing as I had posts scheduled but I am sure you noticed that I was slow to respond to comments.  Now I’m trying to catch up on all that, slowly but surely!

My favourite book news over the past few months was that the Harry Potter books are available on Audible!  I jumped with excitement as I have wanted these since I first heard about them.  I think it’s safe to say I’ll be buying these ASAP!

Outside of book news, I’ve been busy. I went to see Imagine Dragons in Dublin and they were fantastic!  I loved them before I went but now I really, really love them!  Their music is fab.  I attended a zillion (very slight exaggeration but that’s what it felt like) craft fairs every weekend, selling our handmade wooden Christmas decorations.  I spent lots of time with family, binge watched Downton Abbey and wore a lot of pyjamas over the Christmas holidays.  It was such a chill out holiday and was exactly what I needed to recharge my batteries.

As someone who loves New Years, I’m delighted it’s 2016 and of course I’m already scheming for this year.  It’s a month of beginnings and that makes me happy.  So belated Happy New Year to you all and I’m happy to be back in the Sunday Post fold!

ARC Stocktake:

Not a clue!  I need to go sort them and count them!  About 20ish, I think.

I stayed pretty active over the Christmas holidays as it was just so much easier to find time to exercise when I wasn’t working.  Now I’m back to the grindstone but I have my exercise all scheduled and so far it’s going ok.  All I need is to stay injury free and stick to the plan!

Weekly steps last week : 65K

Books I have received to review:

Our Endlessly Numbered DaysInferno

Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin UK for Our Endlessly Numbered Days.  It sounds bizarre!  An 8 year old girl is taken by her father to live in a forest for 9 years and he tells her the rest of the world has disappeared.  Then in 1985 she is returned to her family home.  Like I said bizarre, I can’t wait to get stuck into this one.

Thanks to Chickenhouse for Inferno.  I’m ridiculously excited about this one.  I adored book one which was Vendetta.  It’s Romeo and Juliet meets The Godfather and SO GOOD!

Books I have Bought!

NutsThe Midwife's Confession

Nuts was a book club read.  And happy days it was down to $1.99 on Amazon, that made me very happy!  Nothing better than a bookish bargain!

The Midwife’s Confession was a buy with my Christmas vouchers.  I’ve already devoured it and am an emotional wreck as a result!

Well, that’s  my week wrapped up.  Happy Reading to all.   How was your week?  Any books you were really excited about?

Hey… welcome back to both of us!!!

LIke you I had some posts scheduled but I did an ‘out of office’ thing in case people wondered why I wasn’t commenting on others’ blogs. (Though no one probably worries too much at that time of year!)

It sounds like you’re all organised for the year ahead and I love your philosophical take on it being a bit like a blank slate.

A blank slate is how I always think of January, time for fresh starts! Glad we are both back in the blogging zone 😀

I loved the concert Lexie and need to make more of an effort to see live performances, I find them invigorating!

It was back in November I saw them and I still shiver when I think of how good they were! If you get a chance again, you must go!

I love my planner, it’s my happy time every week setting out my goals. And The Midwife’s Confession was some story! It broke me but I loved it.

    Welcome back Trish!

I hope you enjoy the Harry Potter audio 😀 I grabbed them when they were on Pottermore (or rather, I convinced my folks they’d make a fabulous birthday present one year) but have only started listening to them this past year. Stephen Fry has done such a good job so far (I’m only on book 2, but I’m sure he continues to be fabulous).

I also hope you enjoy Nuts (if you haven’t read it already?), I laughed so hard at that book. Such a delight!

YAY! I feel so rejuvenated too! I’m so glad we’re both back at it and ready to do work! LOL. That’s awesome you saw Imagine Dragons! I am jealous! Haha.

Your planner is ADORABLE. Love it!

Did you enjoy Nuts? I liked it. I really like Alice Clayton’s books.

    Have a great week lovely!

I’m glad you took some time off and enjoyed it, Trish. I did the same. 🙂 Sometimes we need some time to recharge, right? I’m envious you got to see Imagine Dragons…in Dublin no less. Some day. *sigh* I’m glad you’re back though. It’s always good to see you around the blogosphere. I hope you’re having a great week!
