The Sunday Post : Get your Bookish News #94

November 15, 2015 meme 19

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kim the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  Grab a cuppa and let me bend your ear (eyes?) for a few minutes with all my bookish news.

Sunday Post

I nearly didn’t publish the Sunday Post today as it seems so trivial to talk about books in light of the horrific events in Paris.  My heart goes out to all the deceased, their families, their friends and to all the French citizens.  I can’t even imagine what you are going through.

But I decided to go and ahead and post.  Books are low on the agenda compared to the awful events but I refuse to leave terrorist activities alter my life.

Liberté, égalité, and fraternité forever.

ARC Stocktake:

I’m at 13 review books.  Doing great there, I do have a bit of a backlog of reviews to write though, that’s my biggest aim for the week ahead.

#FitReaders is hosted by Geeky Bloggers Book Blog  and That’s What I’m Talking About

I kept forgetting to wear my FitBit!  I so need to just get back in the habit of automatically putting it on first thing everyday.  On Monday I did 7K and 9K on Tuesday.  The rest of the week was pretty similar to those but I don’t have the actual figs.

Books I have received to review:

None this week.  I was too busy reading my HoHoHo books to seek out any more!

Books I have Bought!

November 9

November 9 was my book club read.  I bought on the release day and devoured it in two days!  It was EPIC and my feels took a huge battering from it.

Well, that’s  my week wrapped up.  Happy Reading to all.   How was your week?  Any books you were really excited about?

I’m refusing to count my review books for my own sanity but you’re doing amazing! Down to 13 is fantastic and you’ll have the whole thing taken care of in no time.
The events in Paris are just so difficult to process. I was in college when 9/11 happened here and I remember being so stunned and and horrified and that actual day was so confusing when we didn’t know what was going on and what was going to happen next but I wasn’t afraid for my own safety. What happened in Paris just seems so personal it’s terrifying. But your right – we can’t let terrorism alter our lives other than sending thoughts and prayers and whatever help we can.
    Have a lovely week!

I read Maybe in another Life last week so I’ll be sure to check your review and see what you thought. I liked it and enjoyed comparing her choices in both situations. 🙂

    Happy reading!

I agree, we can’t let terrorist activities stop us from doing what we enjoy and what matters to us. It’s a victory for the terrorists when we do.

I keep hearing excellent things about November 9, enjoy!

    Down to 13 ARCs? Congrats!

You are right – the attacks were horrible but you can’t let them win and rule our lives. Still so sad. Good job on the ARC pile. Mine is staying the same because It feels like every time I read one I get accepted for one. Oops! Yay for November 9!! I flew through it too. ave a great week!

We cannot let the terrorists win by altering our lives! We never know what will happen next, and these horrific events highlight the brevity of life, and how so many things are out of our control.

Thanks for sharing your bookish news…I also got November 9 this week. Enjoy your ARCs…after having way too many at one point, I now have my Vine ARCs down to two, and my NetGalley, to three.

It’s sad what happened at Paris, but I also think it’s good to keep up the normalcy.
You’re doing great with only 13 review books, I wish I could get anywhere close to that. I hope to do better next year with accpeting less review copies, but there are just so many good books out there.

I am glad you enjoyed November 9, it’s on my to-read list, but I don’t think I can buy and read it for the book club read this month, which makes me a bit sad. Looking forward to your review of it! I hope you’ll have a great week!

Trish I know what you mean…. feeling like you shouldn’t go ahead with the post etc in light of what happened in Paris. I felt like that all of that day. Everything I did felt trite and disrespectful.

Terrorists shouldn’t alter lives but they do. I was on a road trip today through my State, Massachusetts ad am now in RI. In Maine we don’t have roadway advertising, but in Mass they do and they wpuld alternate between the ad and the French flag. IN RI the sate hiuse dome is lit up in the French colors.
    When will it end?

My heart has been heavy all weekend after the tragic events, Trish. But I’m always amazed at the resilience of the human spirit.
Good job with your ARCs. I’m impressed. And yay for November 9. I grabbed a copy as well. 🙂
Hope your week is off to a great start!
