The Sunday Post : Get your Bookish News #88

October 11, 2015 meme 54

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kim the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  Grab a cuppa and let me bend your ear (eyes?) for a few minutes with all my bookish news.

Sunday Post   *********************************************************************************************************************************

This week was an exhausting one for me.  Quarter end is my busiest time in work so by the time I left there every evening, I was beat!  I didn’t get much reading done or blogging in the evenings, instead I went for walks and wasted a lot of time doing absolutely nothing!

Blog Ahead Update:

Blog Ahead 2015

Blog Ahead is here!  I started off the Blog Ahead with a paltry count of 3 posts scheduled (all Oct).  And my aim is to finish up with 15 posts scheduled.  To be honest, I’m not too concerned about the final number, I just want to have a nice little of cushion of posts set up for November and December and I’ll be happy with whatever I accomplish.

So far I’ve 5 scheduled for November now and I have a lot of Oct sorted as well.  Most of them done last weekend and on Monday evening before I got worn out from the week!

ARC Stocktake:

I’ve gone from 20 back up to 21.  I had a slow week reading so I didn’t get though any existing ones and I’ve added one to the pile.

Instagram Highlight!

I loved the way this bookish photo turned out.  Such a glamorous book so I like the contrast of the shabby green table underneath.  And of course my fab bookish charm that I bought from Tonya @ Lilybloom Books that I absolutely love using and that gets admired every time someone spots it.

And thanks to Celine from Nyx Book Reviews for explaining how to embed my IG photos into a blog post.

A good bit better this week.  My Achilles tendon is still very tender so I’ve been taking it handy.  But I’m just glad I’m able to move around on it again without flinching.  And I’ve talked myself into remembering that walking is as good as running, it’s all exercise and it all counts.  I’m aiming to try and up this nearer to 10K per day next week but if my heel acts up, I’ll reduce it again.  Basically I’m taking it day by day but trying do do as much as I can.

Average steps: 7K per day

Books I have received to review:

My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick

Thanks to NetGalley and Electric Monkey for My Life Next Door.  I’ve heard a lot of good things about this author and it looks really cute, so I’m looking forward to reading it soon.

Books I have Bought!

None!  Again the advantage of being too busy and too tired to go amazon one-clicking!  I didn’t even spend my audible credit yet!

Well, that’s  my week wrapped up.  Happy Reading to all.   How was your week?  Any books you were really excited about?

Absolutely! When the days are too busy in work, last thing I want to do is come home and sit down in front of another computer. So I switch off and enjoy some other things instead.

I’m really happy with that photo too, it was a great cover though so I can’t take too much credit 😀

Doing nothing is very necessary at times. Especially when life gets so busy.
I really loved that Instagram picture, it looks so pretty. Did you have that green table or did you have to look for one? 😛 Perfect with her green hat and dress.
Enjoy your Sunday and I hope you have a great week ahead of you! 😉

Doing nothing can be fun too!
That is the table outside my gym and I was finished ahead of my hubby so I was sitting there reading my book waiting for him. And seized the moment for a bookish snap 🙂

  2. Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookviews

Good for you with only one new book, Trish! I wish I could manage that, too 🙂 And your IG pic is beautiful… I haven’t been on IG (or online at all) that much this week, I’ve been so busy. And thank you for the links to more interesting posts to check out!
Good job on your blogging ahead, too. It’s so good to have a little cushion in place!
Enjoy the week ahead and happy reading.

The one book this week was mostly because I’ve been too busy to look for more! And I’m loving that I’m building up a little blogging cushion again, I had gotten out of the habit.

I love my FitBit Catherine and it really makes me take extra steps all the time as I’ve just become so aware of hard it is just to do the basic 10K steps that is recommended for health.
Fit Readers is great, posting my update on my Sunday Post keeps me accountable! 😀

  3. Greg

Hope this week is a little more relaxing for you. I’m not officially doing Blog ahead but in practice I have been scheduling out more, which for me is good. I’ve actually got some posts out for Nov and Dec- yahoo! LOL. Have a fabulous week!

It is really hard to stay on top of blogs you want to read, reply to your own comments, stay on track for this current month AND blog ahead! I’m so confused now trying to do it all! But I know come November, I’ll be happy I did. Good luck tomorrow with trying to get ahead 🙂

  4. Lola

Whew sounds like you had a busy week instead, I hope next week is a bit calmer on your work. You’re doing great with Blog Ahead, I also got a lot of october posts done and some for november and later as well. Blog Ahead is always so motivational. That cover for the Miliner’s Secret is really pretty, I hope it’s a good one! Have a great week!

It was an insane week in work but it’s over now and I’m back to just normal work levels now. I think that cover is fab too for The Milliner’s Secret, the book wasn’t quite as great as the cover though. It was good but a bit slow for me. Well done on your Blog Ahead progress Lola.

I LOVE Instagram Laurel! It’s just a site for sharing your photos, you sign up the same way you do any social media site. I love taking book photos and photos of nature on my walks and so I share those. I don’t really use it to drive traffic to the blog but it actually does send lots of traffic my way even though that’s not my reason for using it. So win, win!

That was one more run that I did! The worst thing about my injury is that I’m aware of how much it is setting my running back, it took me forever to build up to 5K and now I’ll have to start all over again! Wah 🙁

      The race is on….

Sorry you were so busy, but work life and family life come first and blogging & reading second (unfortunately, lol). I read Who Do You Love by Jennifer Weiner, a new release at library and well worth a peek since you enjoy ‘women’s” contemporary romace/sort-of-kind-of “chick lit” fiction. I’m scrambling for a term that doesn’t put off people but gets my point across, sigh… (I personally don’t like either women’s or chick-lit as a genre, as if only females can relate).

Beautiful photo, just absolutely lovely and an nice bookmark also 🙂
I used to love to take photos of ordinary settings and make them pop like this one does. Enjoy that book on the table too!

Ohh that sounds right up my alley Rita, I’ll mark it on GR to keep an eye out for it. I know what you mean about chick-lit, I’ve often thought of writing a blog post about that. I never know what to call it either and none of the terms fit right and I think they are all a bit insulting. I use chick-lit the most as on this side of the Atlantic that is the one most people use and so people know what I’m talking about. Actually maybe we should write a post together about it, what do you think?!
I love taking photos and Instagram has made me take more than I ever have. I take most on my phone but I’m thinking now that I’d love a good camera.

    • trish

Thanks Grace, I love bookish photography. And having a fav cover is a great start! Fingers crossed I can up the steps this week as I’m moody without my exercise :O

  6. Karen Blue

It is so good to not do anything. I spend a lot of time this week watching youtube, so not too much reading or blogging done. It was nice to not worry about it.
    That picture is awesome!

It is fab to have weeks where you don’t expect too much of yourself as we all need downtime too! I’m a sucker for youtube, it can be very addictive but also very relaxing. But I tend to feel a bit guilty when I let everything go, so a mix of busy and idleness is best 😀

  7. Katherine @ I Wish I Lived in a Library

It sounds like walks and doing a bit of nothing when you’re home is the way to go right now with how busy you are work. I love the instagram picture! The green with the book is just gorgeous. A post cushion is always such a relief. I have a few reviews for non-ARCs and I always feel a lot better because I can always pull one of those out if it’s a bad week. Have a great week!

I need to build up a stock of reviews for non ARCs as it’s so good to be able to stick one in as needed! So I suppose that means I need to start READING my non ARC books! 😀

    • trish

Walking has so many benefits and it’s really enjoyable too. I just never get that same happy feel from it that I do from running. But I still love it!
I think My Life Next Door looks super cute! Hopefully it’s as good as it looks.

  8. Celine

Sounds like you’re doing quite well on the Blog Ahead challenge! It really helps get the pressure off when you know you have some posts ready to go. Especially since this sounds to be a very busy time for you. I hope you can find some time to relax! 😀

And the Instagram picture looks great, ha!
