10 Bookish Proverbs to Live By

November 21, 2014 Bookish chat 20

There is nothing like a proverb for some good old-fashioned, common sense wisdom.  I thought I’d put a spin on some well-known ones and redo them with a literary twist.  These are my 10 bookish proverbs that I abide by at all times!  Well except number 6, I can’t stop myself from doing this!

I can’t ever read too much of one genre, I just get burnt out and they all start to seem the same. But switching around keeps everything fresh.

Okay, #5– so true, so true! Let’s all be tolerant of each other’s taste in blogging and genres. I sometimes just lurk on someone’s blog and don’t comment that often because I wouldn’t read the book they are praising, but I also won’t put them down for having a different love than mine. I read them so I can garner greater knowledge of the multitude of books out there, and perhaps change my mind once in a while.

#6 You bet I do! I have book cover love (lust) and will sometimes buy a book I’m not sure about if the cover appeals to me. That is the deciding factor, sad as that sounds 🙂

All of these are good, so thanks for writing them. By the way, I gave you a shout-out on my post today.

Exactly Rita, we all have different taste and that doesn’t mean their is anything wrong with that. Since I started blogging I have been encouraged to read more fantasy and Sci Fi and that has worked out really well for me.
I’m a real book cover snob and I can’t stop myself!
Thanks so much for the shout out, I really do appreciate it and the lovely things that you said 🙂

Haha me too and if I get bitten, I don’t go back for a second bite *evil laugh*
And I’m a book snob, I judge all the covers 🙂

Haha. These are cute. I don’t really have any bookish proverbs that I think about, but I loved reading yours! Especially “One readers trash is another readers treasure.” That is so so so true, and something to always keep in mind.

I agree. And I’ve been on both sides of the fence so I know what it feels like. It’s horrible to see someone rip apart a book that you love but at the end of the day, it’s just an opinion and we all have different ones.
