First Line of The Dry by Jane Harper

It wasn’t as though the farm hadn’t seen death before, and the blowflies didn’t discriminate

My Thoughts on The Dry by Jane Harper

The first thing that hit me was how atmospheric this was. The Australian small town feel oozed from the page. Due to the blistering heat, and an ongoing drought the town was tense, and when a triple murder occurred, the subsequent bad feeling burned everyone and anyone.

The pace zipped along nicely, but not at the expense of character development. I was thoroughly engaged, entertained and perplexed trying to figure it all out. I always know when I’m thinking about the characters when I’m not reading, that it’s a cracking book.

And now I’ve one hell of a book hangover. So I’m going for a hair of the dog cure, and moving straight on to her second book – Forces of Nature.

I’m calling it a cure, but it’ll possibly be another binge session!

My sister absolutely loved this one, and she recommended it to me. I really enjoyed it, too! Definitely a good slow-burn mystery with an ending I didn’t see coming.
