Welcome to The Sunday Post, a weekly meme hosted by Kim the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Grab a cuppa and let me bend your ear (eyes?) for a few minutes with all my bookish news. This week I realised something about myself…not exactly profound…sparkly nails cheer me up!
Between My Sundays – what happened this week
Sparkly nails cheer me up!
This week, I did something that I haven’t done in years, and I got my fingernails manicured. I went with shellac paint, so I should get 2/3 weeks out of them. In the past, I’ve always favoured french manicure colours, but this time I threw caution to the wind. For now, I’m the proud owner of 8 sparkly red nails, and 2 sparkly gold ones. Such a small thing, but it made me really happy this week. Plus, it makes my hands look all Christmassy!
How often do you check your phone?
A survey released in Ireland this week proclaimed that the average person admits to checking their phone over 50 times a day. LOL, I’d say “admit” might be the key word! However, I’m afraid to check my actual stats! They’d be shocking. In reality, it’s more than that, though. Totally convinced it’s addiction. So I’m trying really hard not to be constantly glued to mine (mostly unsuccessfully).
The Goodreads Award Winners:
Every year, I wonder just what I’ve read all year when the winners are announced. Because, it’s never the books that everyone is voting for. This year is no different and I’ve only read one of them. Delighted to see Colleen Hoover won best romance, as I’m saving that to read on Christmas day. As I mentioned in the Christmas Book Bloggers Tag, I have a yearly tradition of putting aside a special book to read that day.
Then I was surprised to see that Into the Water won best mystery/thriller. Since, it was one I enjoyed, but I know lots of people hated it/DNF’d it. Colour me shocked that it nabbed the award in spite of that.
Before We Were Yours won best historical fiction. That meant I immediately had to add it to my TBR, so it was great timing that I also ended up getting a review copy this week!
