Welcome to State of the ARC – November 17 where I review the situation with my review books. And just like Fagin in Oliver Twist come to the conclusion that I think I better think it out again!
State of the ARC is a monthly meme hosted by AvalinahsBooks, which is a fun way to share our ARC progress, challenges, wins, woes and mishaps. I’m joining in as I think it will keep me accountable. Seeing the actual state of my review shelf will remind me I’ve only 1 pair of eyes and can only read so many books.
State of the ARC – November 17
Total ARCS : 16 as broken down below:
- NetGalley : 7 books to read and review
- Received From Publisher : 6 books to read and review
- Received from Author : 3 books to read and review
Reviews pending: 10 books read but not yet reviewed. I need to get this figure down!
Progress made Oct 17
I read 10 books in October. 4 of those were library books, 4 were ARCs, and 2 were books I bought. I’m pretty happy with that as I feel like I got a nice balance. Sure I would like to have read a few more, but it is what is! Furthermore it definitely reminds me not to accept/request too many review copies, as in reality I don’t get through too many in a month.
Plans for Nov 17
I’m joining in HoHoHo readathon, so that will curtail my ARC reading that week, as I’m planning on reading books I already own. So I’m going to shoot for 6 arcs this month and we’ll see how that goes. I’m vaguely planning to read these review books, but it depends on the mood. The curse of being a mood reader!
On top of that a huge priority for me this month, is to catch up on reviews of books that I read but never wrote the reviews for. To say nothing of staying on top of writing reviews asap for any book I read in November.
Talk to Trish: What is the state of your ARC shelf? Do you like to track them or just wing it? Have you read any of my arcs, or do any catch your eye? Let’s talk!
