5 Great Podcasts to Listen To in 2017

November 10, 2017 Between Reads 3

Between My Reads is a feature that appears on here sporadically. As I’m sure you might have guessed by now, I’m passionate about books. However, they are not the be all and end all of my life so I thought it might be fun to share some other stuff now again here too. If this doesn’t interest you, don’t worry books will be back on the agenda tomorrow.

5 Great Podcasts to Listen To in 2017

Today I want to talk about Podcasts!  My phone is brimming over with Podcasts I enjoy.  Mostly I like that I can listen to an episode in about 30 minutes, and I can jump in and out when I choose.  Also, I love listening while I walk/exercise/clean because they distract and entertain me.  Plus they are FREE, so what’s not to love.

I shared a podcast list previously in 2016, but these are the new ones in my queue.

5 Great Podcasts to Listen To in 2017

heart icon Happier in Hollywood: Happier with Gretchen was the first podcast I listened to and I still look forward to each new weekly episode.  This show is a spin-off by Gretchen’s sister Liz (who co-hosts Happier with Gretchen) and it feels very different but is equally good.  Hosted by Liz and Sarah; it’s about their life in Hollywood as script-writers, mothers and determined women.  I love that it really focuses on being creative, working hard and kicking ass.   Of course I apply their tips to my blog rather than my career, but that works for me!

heart icon Double Love : One for all the Sweet Valley High fans!  Co-hosted by Anna and Karyn, they explore the terrifying world of Sweet Valley High, one book at a time.  I literally laugh out loud listening to them dissect the books.  The horrific fashion, the awfulness of Jessica matched only by the dulness of Elizabeth, the cringe fat shaming, and the ridiculous plots.  It’s a treat!

heart icon Tea and Tattle : Miranda and Sophie became pen pals at age 13 over a shared loved of The Chalet School books and now many years later are still best friends.  Their podcast features lifestyle tips, healthy living and lots of interview with authors.  Listening is like having a cup of coffee with two old friends, and I find it very uplifting.

heart iconAgain With This : Beverly Hills 90210 : A hilarious recap of the original tv series, episode by episode.  This show was my guilty pleasure back in the day and seeing it ripped apart is so much fun.  I love the sarcasm, the cheesy dialogue and cringing at the 80s fashion.

heart iconBy The Book : Another fun one.  Jolenta and Kristen read and live by the rules of a self-help book for two weeks and report back.  I enjoy learning about the chosen book, and deciding if I’ll ever read it.  The hosts make show as they are funny and engaging, with different outlooks.  They throw themselves into books, often with hilarious results.

Talk to Trish:  Do you listen to Podcasts?  Have you tried any of these?  Any you want to recommend to me, I’m always happy to find new ones.

I have a few fav podcasts that I listen to mostly at night. Some quilting ones and I am really enjoying Happier in Hollywood, those ladies tell it like it is. I listen to What Should I Read Next, I never have the same tastes as those who are on, but still… its books! I am going to have a listen to Tea and Tattle and see how it works for me.

I LOVE Again With This. I love the hosts and the clips are so cringe worthy. I haven’t listened to Happier in Hollywood but I love Liz on Happier so I keep meaning too. I just added Double Love and I need to add By the Book and Tea and Tattle. They both sound really fun! I’m a bit of a podcast addict. I love Again With This, Happier, Stuff I Missed in History Class, True Crime Garage, What Should I Read Next and the list goes on.
