Top Ten Tuesday: Scary Book Titles

October 31, 2017 TTT 17

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and Bookish, and it’s a listers dream post!  Today is a Halloween freebie, so I’m sharing Scary Book Titles!  Boo!

Scary Book Titles

Scary Book Titles

What most of these have in common is that they are not horror scary but psychological scary.  The titles give me the shivers and I can nearly start imagining the story already.  I think an eye-catching title always sucks me, especially if it plays on my inner fears as so many of these do.  I’m not a fan of ghost stories, but give me a chilling domestic noir, that could feasible happen in real life and I lose hours of sleep.

So most of these fall into that genre.  Apart from the The Haunted Vagina.  That title is all kinds of bizarre, horrific and psychologically disturbing!

Talk to Trish:  Have you read any of these?  Do any catch your eye?  Do you take much notice of a book title before you buy it?

It’s one way of catching our interest for sure. I loved the Am I Normal Yet title and it matched the book so well too.

Lying in Wait and In A Dark Dark Wood are such ominous titles! And Give Me the Child is enough to make me step away from the book. I’m not sure I like any scenario where that’s being said! I saw a review for The Haunted Vagina on Anna’s blog and I think I’m still scarred from that. I do not want to know what is going on in that author’s brain!
