Help! My To-Be-Read List : June 17 – Pick it for me! I came across this meme and thought it sounded like a lot of fun. I like the idea of YOU choosing a book for me! It’s hosted by Because Reading is better than real life and you can click on the button to get all the deets. But in a nutshell, I select 3 books, you vote and I’ll review the book by the end of the month.
My To-Be-Read List : June 17 – Pick it for me!
I currently have 23 ARCs on hand, so I’m concentrating on those this month. I can never resist a dark sounding thriller, so help me pick which of these I should mess my head up with! I’ll reveal the winner next Saturday, and I promise to get cracking straight away on the chosen book.
My Sisters Bones by Nuala Ellwood:
ARE YOU BRAVE ENOUGH TO GO BACK?
Kate Rafter is a successful war reporter. She’s the strong one. The one who escaped Herne Bay and the memories it holds. Her sister Sally didn’t. Instead, she drinks.
But when their mother dies, Kate is forced to return to the old family home. And on her first night she is woken by a terrifying scream.
What secret has Kate stumbled upon?
And is she strong enough to uncover the truth . . . and make it out alive?
The Breakdown by B. A. Paris:
Cass is having a hard time since the night she saw the car in the woods, on the winding rural road, in the middle of a downpour, with the woman sitting inside―the woman who was killed. She’s been trying to put the crime out of her mind; what could she have done, really? It’s a dangerous road to be on in the middle of a storm. Her husband would be furious if he knew she’d broken her promise not to take that shortcut home. And she probably would only have been hurt herself if she’d stopped.
But since then, she’s been forgetting every little thing: where she left the car, if she took her pills, the alarm code, why she ordered a pram when she doesn’t have a baby.
The only thing she can’t forget is that woman, the woman she might have saved, and the terrible nagging guilt.
Or the silent calls she’s receiving, or the feeling that someone’s watching her…
The Good Daughter by Karin Slaughter:
Two girls are forced into the woods at gunpoint. One runs for her life. One is left behind…
Twenty-eight years ago, Charlotte and Samantha Quinn’s happy small-town family life was torn apart by a terrifying attack on their family home. It left their mother dead. It left their father — Pikeville’s notorious defense attorney — devastated. And it left the family fractured beyond repair, consumed by secrets from that terrible night.
Twenty-eight years later, and Charlie has followed in her father’s footsteps to become a lawyer herself — the ideal good daughter. But when violence comes to Pikeville again — and a shocking tragedy leaves the whole town traumatized — Charlie is plunged into a nightmare. Not only is she the first witness on the scene, but it’s a case that unleashes the terrible memories she’s spent so long trying to suppress. Because the shocking truth about the crime that destroyed her family nearly thirty years ago won’t stay buried forever…
Over to you, no such thing as a free ride around here, you have to do some work too! Which do you want to see me read and review before the end of June? And I’d love to hear your reasoning down in the comments too. So go vote and then talk to me!
