Top Ten Tuesday: All I want for Christmas is ….books and bookish things!

December 20, 2016 TTT 18

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and Bookish and it’s a book listers dream  post!  Today the list is all about what you’d love to find under your Christmas tree.

top 10

One great thing about being a book lover is that family and friends never have to worry about what to give me.  Books make my world go round and I never, ever get tired of bookish presents.

All I want for Christmas is ….books and bookish things!

I swear I’ve been good Santa and top of my bookish list is

  1. Vouchers!  Yes I’m being very pragmatic and honest here.  I’ve read a lot of books and if you just buy me a book, chances are I already have it.  So let me have the fun of picking my own.
  2. Personal Library Kit: I’ve seen these on Amazon and I would love to leave my mark on my books.

  3.  Fun book ends: Again I’ve been eying these up on Amazon and I’d love to use them to add some colour and life to my bookshelves.

  4. A bookish Mug: I love coffee and I love first lines in books.  So much so, that I include the first line in all my reviews.  So I think this book and I are a match made  in coffee heaven.
  5. A Book Bag: I have endless uses for one.  I use them to keep spare books in my car, at my desk in work, for bringing books to and from the library, whenever I travel.  You get the picture, I never have enough book bags.  And bonus marks if they have a cute bookish saying.

But there are some books that I have on my wish list too.  If you are buying books for someone, I recommend you stalk their goodreads shelves or just ask them what they want.  I’m sure they’ll rattle off a list of at least 20 books without pausing for breath.

6.  Illuminae : I’m intrigued by the formatting of this and can’t wait to read it.

7.  From Sand and Ash: I read my first Amy Harmon book this year and it blew me away.  I can’t wait to see how she handles historical fiction.

8.  A Million Worlds with You.  OK, so I haven’t read book 2 yet in this trilogy.  But I do own it and I’d love to binge read book 2 and 3 together.

9.  The Liberation: Lot’s of my trusted blogger friends are raving about this book and I’m a sucker for WW2 settings so I need this.

10.  The Mysterious Affair at Styles.  I love my Agatha Christie books and my collection is steadily growing.  Lately I realised that I don’t own her first published book and I’d love to rectify that.  I’ve also just realised that the kindle edition is free but I’d still like a print copy!

Talk to Trish:  Do you like any of my wished for pressies?  What would you most like to get?    If you have also done this TTT, please leave a link so I can come visit 🙂

That library kit is seriously tempting me too! I haven’t figured out a way that I’d actually use it so that’s pretty much the only thing preventing me from getting it at this point. And this post made me realize I haven’t spent nearly enough time looking at cute bookends! That one is adorable! Love the book bag and I’m now adding The Liberation to my TBR. How did I miss that?? I hope you enjoy The Mysterious Affair at Styles. It’s slightly dry but it’s fantastic!

  2. Hamlette

I have a mug like that, only mine is all Jane Austen quotations. It’s sitting by me right now, as it so happens, with some coffee dregs lurking inside. Clearly time to make a fresh cup.

My TTT wish list is here.

What a great list, Trish. I love that you included a couple of bookish goodies along with your books. I hope that your get most of what you want. I recently picked up Illuminae, although it is not at all my typical read, but I have read enough about it to be beyond curious. I have just begun picking up some of Christie’s books, although I haven’t read a single of hers yet.
    Merry Christmas, Trish.

I love that personal library set! So neat! You can never have too many bookish mugs or tote bags. I have Illuminae on my miles long wishlist as well. Everyone raves about it. I need to see what all the fuss is about!

  5. Rita @ View From My Books

Great list, with fun things! I could use that bag (and more) because California passed a law recently that outlawed one-use plastic bags given out for free in stores. So now I carry a random mix of totes in my car 😊

Also I like the looks of From Sand and Ash. And what reader ever has enough coffee or tea mugs!?

I hope you receive at least some of your items on the wishlist…

  6. Lola

Strangely enough I rarely get bookish presents for Christmas, my mom never liked giving me books. Although I have gotten some bookish gifts from my sister and boyfriends.

And yes to vouchers, I think they are a great gift. That way you can always pick what you want to buy with it. i got an amazon gift card this month from an author I did some work for and it made me so happy. I already bought some books with it. I’ve gotten a few fun bookends and some pretty plain ones, but you can never have enough of them if you have a lot of books.

I hope you get some fo these gifts this year! They all sounds like good ones!

What an awesome post, and I totally love the Library Kit which I’ve never seen before. I agree, for us Book Nerds, it’s a little tricky to purchase books for us. Better to get a gift card, which I ask for every year, and 37 years later, I’m still waiting. (lol) I did get David Baldacci’s latest, which was awesome. You have some really good book choices, and hope your New Year is Fab! Hugs…RO
