Between My Sundays – what happened this week

HoHoHo Readathon Week:

HoHoHo Readathon week has flown in again.  I’m knee-deep in festive reads, humming along to some seasonal tunes and drinking hot chocolate from my Christmas mug.  Oh and sporting my cozy socks as ordered by Kim The Caffeinated Reviewer who hosts the challenge.  As well as hosting a fun challenge called Name that Book where you have to puzzle out the book title using picture clues.  It’s not too late to sign up and join in the fun.

Gilmore Girls:

I’m on to season 4 now and I had forgotten how much books featured in the show.  Rory’s graduation speech with all the bookish references just warmed my heart.  I’m not half as well read or as cool as Rory but I want to be her best friend, drink all the coffee, and have all the book chats.

Baubles and Books :

I’ve joined in a Secret Santa swap with some other Irish, English and European book lovers.  I don’t know who I’m matched with yet but I can’t wait to go shopping for my partner.  You get to specify five different books and your partner has to send at least one of the books along with a few bookish bits and bobs.  It’s my first time doing one of these and I’m as excited about the planning what I’ll send as I am about receiving one.

Books I have received to review:

None.  So I want to say I’m on an ARC free zone until next year.  But I also don’t want to say that in case something great catches my eye.  Let’s just say I’m being ultra picky at the moment.

Books I have bought:

None that have arrived!  But a few were ordered 🙂

Library Haul:

I’m expecting You Before Anyone Else to be adorable as that was the way I felt about a previous YA Julie Cross book that I read.

The Law of Moses is my current read.  Basically, flailing is happening, hearts are smashing, emotions are zinging.  So.  Many.  Feels.

And I’m finally going to get to finish The Winner’s Trilogy as my hold on The Winner’s Kiss came in.  I can’t wait to dance around all the political manoeuvring again and see how it all ends.

divider   Finally, why not join me on Instagram?  I use Instagram to capture a flavour of my life via books, nature and colour.  Sharing my new pretty stationery.  Well I’m currently not buying books, so I’m allowed buy stationery, right?

The stationery in Penneys at the moment is perfectly pretty. But best of all is the price is all pretty perfect. #penneys

Sounds like you’re all set for the holidays! It is a comforting time of year and I love it, I’m looking forward to the holiday spirit this year. I’ll have to check out your challenge, I had a rough start to HoHoHo so I haven’t been around much, but the challenges are always so fun. Have a nice week Trish!

I’m buried in holiday reads too, which is a great place to be right now. ARC free zone isn’t a bad place to be either. How nice that you can focus on your TBR pile until the new year. Happy reading.

I’m also trying not to get any ARCs for a while, and I actually managed to stay ARC free last week! Hopefully I can keep it up.

I want to read The Winner’s trilogy. I hope they’re good!

I need to get started on my Gilmore Girls rewatch. I’m do far behind on TV stuff right now.

Hope you have a great week!

The Winner’s Trilogy is a great series, well the first two were anyway. Very different to other series out there as they are full of strategic plotting which I love.

  4. Lola

I hope you’re enjoying the readathon. I have a few Christmas reads I might read this season, but haven’t started them yet. That secret santa project sounds fun. I’ve done a secret santa once a few years ago and it was fun.
I am pretty picky with accepting arc’s recently too, but still manage to get a few new ones each week usually.
I am looking forward to your review of law of Moses, it sounds like a good book! have a great week!

I’m delighted that for once, I’m getting through lots of Christmas reads and I might even get all the ones I own read this year! Finally!

  5. Rita

I like that your post is upbeat, fun and holiday-themed! I wish I knew of a Secret Santa in the U.S. with bloggers I follow. Maybe there is; I’ll keep my eyes open. I used to enjoy doing this when I worked with my co-workers.

I love stationery too! I’m constantly buying pens, paper, notebooks I don’t really need, lol. Yours is very pretty.

Enjoy the rest of the HoHoHo challenge and your holiday reads!

If I hear of one, I’ll let you know. Maybe you should organise one! The one I’m doing is pretty small, about 30 of us I think.

I’m obsessed with stationery and like you constantly buying it.

  6. Laurel-Rain Snow

I love the Gilmore Girls, and when I binge-watched the whole series a while back, I felt like I was living right there in their world, and drinking coffee with them!

Looking forward to the upcoming revisit with them.

I’m thinking that the Christmas spirit may be what I need to get me out of my current “politically-generated funk.”

Enjoy your week…and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

I feel like that too about the Gilmore girls.

And yes I 100% admit that I’ve been using books to avoid the election talk. Of course I do follow it, and am full of disappointment, so books are a welcome relief.

  7. Tina

I’ve had Law Of Moses on my TBR forever. How are you enjoying it? I have never seen Gilmore Girls, I know, I know! I’ll get to it eventually. I just don’t think it is a show for me. I was doing really good resisting ARCs and then I went on Netgalley the other night and it was all over with.

I hope you have a fantastic week!

  8. Ria

I just finished season 1 of Gilmore Girls. Now watching Poldark season 1 😉

I also had plans to join Hohoho readathon but then decided to not join as my days became hectic. I was also dubious about finishing books on time. Readathons never work for me 😀

Happy Reading and have a happy week!

I’ve never watched Poldark. Are you enjoying it Ria? Always trying to line up shows on my Netflix queue. It will take me months to finish the GGs though.

    • trish

Picture books sound like a lot of fun. And I’m going to try and fit in The Grinch and The Night Before Christmas if I can, so no judging from me 🙂

  9. Brandie

Have fun with your readathon! I’m considering joining last minute. I need some holiday cheer, and seeing the books you’re reading has me wanting to pick up some of my Christmasy books.

I have only recently become a big fan of Amy Harmon, but I haven’t had time to read The Law of Moses, yet. So glad to see you loved it!! Have you read Making Faces?!?! A MUST read!!

Have a great week and happy reading!
