Ho-Ho-Ho Holiday Read-a-Thon : Let the fun begin! HoHoHo RAT 2016

November 2, 2016 Book Event 23

HoHoHo, it’s NEARLY readathon time.  So of course I had to drag out the ‘poem’ I wrote in its honour two years ago.  Apologies in advance for my ridiculousness but it’s the season to be cheesy, right? 🙂  If you have no clue what HoHoHo RAT 2016 is, then click the picture below.

HoHoHo RAT 2016

Twas the month before Christmas, and all through bloggy-land

Not a creature was stirring, just as hoped and planned.

We had hunted on Goodreads for books full of cheer,

In sure and certain knowledge that HoHoHo was nearly here.

The readers snuggled down on sofas and on beds,

And all sorts of Christmas tales lived out  in our  heads.

And some with old favs and some with new buys

But all had a fab read-a-thon with many happy sighs!

HoHoHo RAT 2016, it’s read-a-thon time!

But  not just any old read-a-thon, nope this is the seasonal one to get us all in the holiday mood.  In all honesty, I tend to be a Christmas Grinch.  But by joining HoHoHo, I read myself right in to the Christmas mood.  And I’m hoping to do the same again this year.  I’ve a Christmas playlist all ready on spotify, I’ve got lashings of hot chocolate and I’ve got the stack of Christmas books.  Basically, HoHoHo RAT 2016 is the most wonderful readathon of the year!

Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer hosts the readathon. Want to join in?  Then head on over to Kim’s blog and sign up.  There are challenges and prizes too but best of all; a chance to make new bloggy friends.

HoHoHo Rat 2016 to read list:

I’m making a list and checking it twice.  Going to check out which books are naughty or nice 🙂  And look at those covers, they just ooze sweet Christmas feels.

Driving Home for Christmas : I bought this one two flipping years ago.  I’m doggedly determined to read it this season.

Enid Blyton’s Christmas Stories: Christmas is a time for nostalgia and what better way than with my favourite childhood author

Hercule Poirot’s Christmas : Just to stop it all getting too smaltzy, I’ve thrown in an Agatha Christie.  Because why not!

A Yorkshire Christmas : An amazon freebie that I grabbed a few weeks ago.  It looks fun and romantic.

Dashing Through The Snow : Another festive book that I left unread last season so I’m determined to read it this year.

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Chick Lit : A cute seasonal anthology which will be a fun way to get acquainted with some new authors.  All are new to me except Tracy Krimmer whose book Caching In I read earlier this year.

HoHoHo Goals:

  • Do all the challenges
  • Enjoy my heck out of my books
  • Find and follow new blogs
  • Join the twitter party (if it’s not in the middle of the night in this time zone!)

I absolutely suck at read-a-thons, because I always feel as if someone is forcing me to read the books I have chosen for it… And so, I’m an unhappy reader. And that just won’t do!
I love your poem, Trish 🙂 And you have some Christmas books that will be a bit tense up there 🙂
Good luck on reaching all your goals.

I’m a mood reader Lexxie so I understand a bit of how you feel about readathons. But I just pick a good selection and hope for the best!

I’m a mood reader too Kristen but I just pick a wide mix and hope for the best! And I usually love them, as you get to meet loads of new people and have fun.

Hell ya’ it’s the season for cheesy. That’s why this is the time of the year that Hallmark movies become my favorites, my short term TBR takes a turn towards the sappy, and I LOVE THST POEM. 🙂
I will be participating in the readathon too. Best of luck with your goals.

Thanks Toady and I look forward to seeing what holiday books you get through. And oh yes for sappy Hallmark Christmas movies, they are my (not-so) guilty pleasure in winter.

I’m really looking forward to it. And when I saw that I already had plenty of Christmas books and then grabbed some more from my library, that made it even better! You should join in again, it’s good fun.

Really looking forward to all my reads and joining in the challenges. And no, I didn’t get the email. I’ve sent you a twitter dm.

Good you are taking part, not so good on the heavy work load! I’ll be working too but hoping to read as much as I can and hopefully visit others taking part too. It’s so much fun to see what books everyone else is reading and to know we are all knee deep in festive books 🙂

Good luck with this readathon! I hope to read A Yorkshire Christmas this year as well as it sounds like a fun Cristmas read. I have read Dating for Dceades by Tracy Krimmer and hope to read more by her. I might add that chicklit box set to my wishlist.

I have Hercule Poirot’s Christmas on my TBR mountain, too! Do you know if you need to have read the other books in the series first? I love the cover for A Yorkshire Christmas! It makes me want to walk there through the snow. We are still green here in Canada, surprisingly enough!! We have been unseasonably warm. Hope you are enjoying all your holiday reads!
