Randomness: Blogger Conference

I’m in Dublin for the weekend and I attended a Blogger Conference yesterday.  It wasn’t book focused but I thoroughly enjoyed it.  I left feeling motivated and full of blogging mojo.  My favourite tips of the day were:

  • Edit relentlessly.  I know I need to do this more.
  • Think of 3 words that describe what mood you want your Instagram feed to capture and focus every picture around that.
  • Do you!  Being authentic is so much easier than being fake.
  • To make your content sharable; be relatable, be topical, be valuable, be entertaining
  • Remember social media is not your blog.  Guilty, guilty, guilty, I’m going to refocus on making my blog my priority.  That’s what I own and that’s what I’m proudest of so it’s time to bring it back front and centre.
  • Build a brand you’re proud of.
  • Don’t be a funnel for someone else message.  Just post about what means something to you and your readers.

BlogAhead hosted by Herding Cats and Burning Soup is a wrap!  I failed miserably!  But I have lots of posts part prepped and nearly ready to go so it could be worse.

Second Chance Sunday – What happened here lately:

Second Chance Sunday – What caught my eye.  Why not go Sunday visiting?

Lola @ Lola’s Reviews has a handy post for authors and publishers on How to get reviewers to cross-post their reviews.  What works for me is just ask!  I don’t do it routinely but if asked politely I will gladly cross post on Amazon.

Lexie @ Unconventional Book Reviews discusses Keeping Track of Ideas.  I’m someone who loves making lists so I track all blog ideas in a notebook or on my phone if I don’t have pen and paper to hand.

Lyndsay @ Fizzy Peaches shares her FAVOURITE PODCASTS OF 2016 (SO FAR!).  I adore podcasts and have gone ahead and added Magic Lessons to my list of ones to listen to.  What’s your favourite podcast?

Books I have received to review:

None.  I’ve been staying away from ARCs lately as I want to get on top of my TBR a little bit and I have some great books on hand that I want to dive in to.  So I’m concentrating on those.

Books I have bought:

After I DoKissing in AmericaPassenger

Psst, why not join me on Instagram?  I’m a wanna-be #bookstagrammer and I love taking photos of my books.  It is seriously one of my favourite things to do as soon as I get a new book.  I also have photos of my stationery hauls, my walks, my fitness journey and random photos of Ireland but if you only come for the books, that’s aok!

And my latest addiction is Snapchat!  I admit it I’m a sucker for social media 😀  This one is mostly about my weight loss journey (PS – I hit 4 stone lost lately and am on the final stretch to GOAL! )

So, that’s  my week wrapped up.  Happy Reading to all.

Sounds like you had a great time on the Blogger Conference. I love the tips. And I loved seeing it all on Snapchat. 😉 I’m really a bad snapchatter.. I hope to do more on my trips next week!

Have a great week Trish and good luck with your weight loss journey. What I can see about it on social media.. You’re doing great! 😉 Happy Reading!

I usually put a summary of my reviews in Goodreads, Amazon (Aus and US) and The Reading Room but I’ve gotten behind in April and am now trying to catch up. I’m ditching The Reading Room though because, well… I’m not really sure, but…

The bloggers catch up sounds good. I’m going a non-book blogging one in a few months and just keen to catch up with others interested in writing etc..

I’ve given you my three words in Instagram…. you’ve got a lovely account there.

Those are great blogging tips. I wish I had those when I started instagram (which wasn’t too long ago, actually). I’ve been focusing more on books recently but I also love taking pictures of nature and craft projects I’m working on. I followed your instagram. 🙂
    Have a great week!

I will have to check out After I Do. I have an ARC of her newest book on my TBR pile.

I haven’t read Room yet but I liked the movie.

Great blogging tips! Glad you were inspired by the conference. I need to work more on content on my blog. Most weeks it is enough to post one review and the Sunday Post meme. I used to spend more time writing on my blog in the early years.

That conference sounds fun and well worth attending! I’m having issues finding ME in my Instagram photos. It’s obvious what works for other people but it’s SO hard for me!

I LOVED Passenger! I hope you do, too! And After I do was really good.

Those are great tips, and all so true. Hope you’re enjoying Dublin- sounds like fun! I’ll have to check out that podcasts post- I’m always looking for a good podcast even if I don’t listen to them that often. But every once in awhile…

After I do looks good, I recently read a Taylor Jenkins Reid book and it was good.

Oh the blogger conference sounds really fun, even if it wasn’t book focused. I’m sure you learned a lot! I’m trying to use social media more these days just to make connections and promote the blog, but I do try and mostly focus on keeping up with the blog posts and commenting back, etc.
