The Sunday Post : Get your Bookish News #BlogAhead

May 1, 2016 meme, The Sunday Post 23

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kim the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  Grab a cuppa and let me bend your ear (eyes?) for a few minutes with all my bookish news.

Randomness:

Three Sunday Posts in a row, I’m on fire!  Or well back in the blogging groove which feels great.

Last weekend I took part in the Dewey Readathon which is one of my favourite book events of the year.  This year I took a different approach, normally I’m very social and often spend more time on twitter, visiting blogs and checking Instagram than reading the books!  This year it was a day I just wanted to read and that’s what I did.  I didn’t join in any challenges but I loved having a day where I just read and read (and read!).  I did post a few pics on IG but apart from that it was just me and my books.

And today is the first week of BlogAhead hosted by Herding Cats and Burning Soup.  I’m so ready to whip this blog in to shape and get some extra posts scheduled!  I currently have 3 posts scheduled and I’m hoping to add another 7 posts which will give me a solid little buffer of posts.

Second Chance Sunday – What happened here this week:

Second Chance Sunday – What caught my eye.  Why not go Sunday visiting?

Rachel @ Parajunkee shares 10 REASONS TO QUIT BOOK BLOGGING.   Funny because they are true!

Lauren @ Shooting Stars Mag want to start Hosting Blog Tours for LGBT+ so make sure you sign up for her list if you are interested in participating.

Rebecca @ Unbound Pages shares a really helpful guide on How to Create a Beautiful Bookstagram.  I feel totally inspired after reading it.

Amy @ Ode to Jo & Katniss discusses Reading Habits.  I love nosing at how other people read and what is important to them.

************************************************************************************************************************************

Books I have received to review:

Not a one!  But I did find one I had forgotten about when tidying my bookshelves!  And I also made a stack of must read asap books (including the forgotten one!) which I what I’m concentrating on for May.  These are a mixture of arcs and books I’ve bought but I’m eager to read as many as possible of them this month.  Spot any you want to do a shoutout for!

Books I have bought:

None. I am going shopping today though so I’m sure that will include a book shop or five!  And I spotted this one on my mother’s shelves so I’ve borrowed it.  Because you know my must-read pile wasn’t quite high enough!

Between the Lines is also on Facebook sharing details of kindle freebies and great giveaways as well as other random bits and pieces.  So if you use FB, please like my page and leave a comment so I can like you back!

Or join me on Instagram as I’m a wanna-be #bookstagrammer and I love taking photos of my books.  It is seriously one of my favourite things to do as soon as I get a new book.  I also have photos of my stationery hauls, my walks, my fitness journey and random photos of Ireland but if you only come for the books, that’s aok!

And my latest addiction is Snapchat!  I admit it I’m a sucker for social media 😀  This one is mostly about my weight loss journey (PS – I hit 3.5 stone lost lately and am on the final stretch to GOAL! )

So, that’s  my week wrapped up.  Happy Reading to all.

Sounds like you had a good readathon! Sometimes just reading time is what one needs. And good luck with Blog Ahead. I’ve been scheduling posts ahead and it sure makes life easier. 🙂

    Have a great week Trish!

I love scheduling ahead but I just seem to have fallen out of the habit. Looking forward to building up a store of posts again 🙂

  2. Leanna

I love the idea of a whole day of just reading so might take part in a readathon sometime soon. I never seem to know when they are happening but I guess I could just pick a day and decide to do it! 🙂

I have had The Forgotten Garden on my shelf for YEARS. Need to get around to reading it. I read another book of hers, The House at Riverton, and really enjoyed it.

I was pretty late finding out about this readathon as well but luckily it fell on a Saturday where I was free. Doing a diy one sounds fun!
Everyone is telling me The Forgotten Garden is great so I hope to read it soon.

  3. Rebecca @ Unbound Pages

Thank you for sharing my bookstagram post! <3 I'm glad you found it inspiring.

Readathons are the best. It's so nice to just sit and read for an entire day. I don't get to do that much anymore so when I do it's extra magical. 🙂

I really did Rebecca. And you know you were right about adding flowers to photos, I tried it and they definitely get more likes! So thanks again.

Ohh I took lots of breaks as I had to leave the house to do other stuff but I did read more than I normally would on an ordinary Saturday. And you must read Room asap, it’s great. And I must watch the movie ASAP! 😀

  4. Lola

Yay! You’re doing great and it definitely sounds like you’re back in the blogging groove. And that sounds nice that you had a day with so much reading.
I am also joining the blog ahead challenge, I am always so excited for this challenge and it always helps me to add a few extra posts to my buffer. I hope you’ll have a great week!

Really excited about Blog Ahead, my scheduling has been bad lately and I’m looking forward to reviving the habit as it does make life easier.

Good luck with the Blog Ahead Challenge Trish. I’m also joining and I’m hoping to get at least 15 posts scheduled. I really need it since I will be traveling and working a lot this upcoming month.

And nice job on the three Sunday Posts in a row, and the Readathon. I’ve never participated in one, but it sounds like something I would love so I’ll keep my eyes open.

Have a great week and Happy Reading!

Readathons as so much fun. I don’t read all day, I just drop in and out as suits my schedule.
Good luck with BlogAhead, I hope you meet your goal. I can’t wait to build up a buffer of posts as it does make life easier.

You are always so organised Kim. I love scheduling but lately I have fallen out of the habit so I’m looking forward to building up a buffer again.

  6. Deborah

I only got a couple of books last week too – so a slow week. Although… it does supposedly give us time to catch up on our TBR list!

PS. I really enjoy Kate Morton’s work!
