Randomness:

This has been a busy week.  I was helping out at a craft fair last Sunday and that is going to be the story of my weekends from now until Christmas.  One good thing about the fairs though is that you have to arrive early to set up and then you are just hanging around for hours until the doors open to the public.  So that’s a lot of bonus reading time for me!  Oh yes, my TBR is going to love this!

For Halloween, I pledged to save 3 book souls!  Who else is willing to join me and rescue a long neglected book from their TBR?

Reading wise, I got though 16 books this month.  I always find it interesting to see at the end of a month what way my ratings looked and as always most of my books were 3 or 4 stars which seems about right.  I never have too many 1 or 2 star books as I’m impatient and tend to DNF if I don’t really like a book.

3 books were 5 star books (Maybe in Another Life, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and My Life Next Door),

5 books were 4 star books

6 books were 3 star books

1 was 2 star

1 was 1 star

Blog Ahead Update:

Blog Ahead 2015

This has been my best Blog Ahead yet.  I’ve ended up with 20 posts scheduled, 4 in draft nearly done and I have two new series of posts coming.  The first one is starting tomorrow and I’m excited about it.  Thanks to Anna and Kim for organising Blog Ahead and for everyone in the FB group for being so encouraging, I found it really motivated me to sit down and get those posts done!

ARC Stocktake:

I’m at 15 books.  I only got through one this week as I wanted to make time to read my book club book (a full month too late, oopphhs!) and to read some scary Halloween reads too.  I love that my ARC pile is under control now and I have time to read non-arc books.  I’m not saying this is the right choice for everyone as others can cope with ARC pressure in a way I can’t but for me single digit ARC figures is my aim and I can nearly see the light now.

Earlier this year I joined FitReaders!  Click on the image below for full details on how you can join in too.

FitReaders2015

#FitReaders is hosted by Geeky Bloggers Book Blog  and That’s What I’m Talking About

My heel is ok!  And my walking has increased, I’m just aiming to get back up to my 11K steps slowly so as not to aggravate it again.  And I forgot to wear my fitbit 2 days.  So I’m guessing but I think it’s fairly accurate.

Average steps : approx 7k per day

For November, I want to increase that week by week, so I will do 8K per day this week, 9K per day the week after, etc. This way I’ll hopefully stay injury free.  I also want to get fully back in to healthy eating, I’ve slipped a bit over the past month or so.  But I’m recommitting now and I’m ready to get my head back in the game!

  • Goal 1 : Do my steps
  • Goal 2 : Track my food.  I’m not even aiming towards any figure, I just want to track it all,  every bite.  As that alone makes me eat healthier.

And that’s it.  Just 2 goals, nothing crazy, but if I do them I know they will work for me.

Books I have received to review:

Try Not To Breathe by Holly Seddon

Thanks to NetGalley and Random House for Try Not To Breathe.  I read it during the week and it was brim full of suspense about just who assaulted a teenage girl 20 years ago and left her in a sleep coma since.

Books I have Won!

the rest of us just live here

I won a gorgeous hardback version of The Rest of Us Just Live here from Wattle at Whimsical Nature.  Not only is the book gorgeous, with lovely blue edging on the pages but it came with a badge too which says I am not the Chosen One!  I love it!

Looks like you had a pretty good reading month. I only had a couple books that were just okay or disappointing. I had a couple of five star reads and several four star reads. And no one stars! Yay! Glad to see you only had a couple disappointing ones. Try Not To Breathe looks interesting. I was unsure about requesting it, mainly because I am still on kind of a time-out. My ARC total is at 12 and I love it! Hooray for the freedom to read non-ARC books!

I’m glad to see your ankle is faring better 🙂 I used to participate in fairs with my mother when she made/sold dolls, the mornings would have been practical for reading if we hadn’t gone visiting and chatting with the other exhibitors, but the afternoons were crazy ! And you’re reasonable for only setting two attainable goals, that’s what works the best. Have a great week-end, Trish <3

You did great on the Blog Ahead challenge! I ended up with 11, after staring the last day with 0 so I’m pleased with that!

I’m glad your heel is recovering, good luck increasing those steps!

Have fun at the craft fair! That’s neat you can get so many extra reading time in while waiting for the fair to open. I am joining a reading challenge next year for my neglected review copies next year. I’ll check out your halloween post next.

You did great with Blog Ahead! It’s such a fun and helpfull chalenge! And I am really curious about your new series of posts, will have to remember to stop by your blog tomorrow to check out your first post!

Every time I see your ARC control updates it reminds me of how bad I am doing with my review copies pile, I might have to keep track of it in my sunday post too, maybe it will motivate me to read more of them or request less. And I should stay away from netgalley, but there are so many good books!

Those pumpkin books looks so awesome, although I do feel a bit sorry for the books that got butchered to make them, it’s definitely worht it as they look so cool. Have a great week and enjoy your new books!

I love the pumpkin books! Those are awesome. I haven’t been to a craft fair in years but they’re so much fun and you’re right – you do get such great ideas from them. You did a fantastic job with Blog Ahead! I’m trying to get better about my scheduling and it’s working slowly. Next year I need to sign up for Blog Ahead and really focus on it. Have a great week!

I love your save a book soul idea – and your choices are great. These Broken Stars is one I need to save too.

I’m glad your heel is doing better – 7k steps isn’t shabby, especially coming off an injury. You’re smart to work back slowly!

Enjoy your reading – especially that time at the craft fair! How fun! Have a great week 🙂

I think I have ‘Try Not to Breathe’ to read as well. Is it out next year? I never know what to do in those instances… leave it til then to read and review or read now and review in NetGalley and schedule ahead for your blog? Any advice?

    Well done on Blog Ahead!

I usually read them straight away Deborah, submit my feedback and schedule it for the release date. I’ve found that if I put off reading them that I seem to lose my excitement for the book. And I enjoyed Try Not to Breathe, hope you do too.

  10. Let's Get Beyond Tolerance

I LOVE craft shows. I just went to one today, actually, and I have a few more this month I’d like to visit. I can imagine waiting for the public to arrive is a great time to get some reading in. Those book pumpkins are adorable. 🙂

Congrats on the giveaway win – I want to read The Rest of Us Just Live Here as well.

Craft fairs are a lot of fun! I hardly ever get to go to them anymore though. It’s awesome that you’re ARC pile is under control now, it’s always nice when you can get it to a place where the pressure isn’t constantly bothering you.
I hope you have an awesome week this week Trish!
