The Sunday Post : Get your Bookish News #80

August 9, 2015 meme 27

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  Grab a cuppa and let me bend your ear (eyes?) for a few minutes with all my bookish news.

Sunday Post   *********************************************************************************************************************************

Busy week!  One thing I always struggle with is balancing everything but this week I just managed to get a little of everything done.  Reading, reviewing, family time, blog work, running, walking, work, housework, etc, (my priorities might not be great!); you know just how many things we all have to cram in and this week I was a busy bee buzzing around and getting crap done.

I suppose the fact that Monday was a holiday here helped a lot.  The other thing that helped was my planner which always does work on the weeks when I put the time into making goals.  I use it for blog and fitness purposes only and it makes me do stuff as I’m anal about ticking the boxes off!  Plus I love sitting down on a Sunday night and setting my priorities for the week, it just gets me in the right frame of mind for the upcoming days.  I’m hit and miss about using it consistently though so I’m trying to make it a habit for all of August.

#FitReaders is hosted by Geeky Bloggers Book Blog  and That’s What I’m Talking About

Great week!  I’ve hit around 13/14K steps most days so far this week.  Except Friday which was 10K.  And last Sunday, but let’s not talk about that day, I was SO lazy and I just indulged my inner couch potatoe!  I’ve also done my squat challenge every day this week and mixed up my gym routine so I’m doing more strength training.  I know it’s working because my arms were so achy in work one day that putting letters into envelopes felt tough!

And I’ve entered in the Howarts running club 9 and 3/4K!  Michelle at In Libris Veritas told me about this and I immediately emailed them to see if Irish witches could take part!  They said yes (you pay an extra $4 towards postage which is very reasonable) and I’m so excited.  I’m not sure when I’ll do the run but I’ll keep you updated.

Books I have received to review:

The Body Institute

Thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for The Body Institute.  Any book that deals with body image always grabs my attention and this SciFi YA sounds intruiging.

Books I have Bought!

Under Differnt Stars

Under Different Stars was an audiobook that I saw on amazon reduced to $2.95.  No way could I leave it behind for that price!  Plus Christy at Christy’s Love of Books rec’d it, that’s good enough for me!

Well, that’s  my week wrapped up.  Happy Reading to all.   How was your week?  Any books you were really excited about?

My planner use is pretty sporadic. I’m good at writing new stuff down, but actually checking it is where I usually fail. High five for being a busy bee though! Haha, that’s right, I rec’d it, which means my word is final and it must be read. 😉

I thoroughly enjoyed my couch potatoe day! I use an on line calendar too but that is more for appointments, etc. I like physically planning in my planner though as I find it relaxing.

Oh, I love your approach to planning and prioritising for the week ahead. And even more great is that you had a nice balanced week last week!

I love planning and setting goals, I don’t always do it but the weeks that I do, I’m a lot more productive. It was easier be balanced last week when I only worked 4 days though 🙂

Hope you have a lovely Monday off, there is nothing like a long weekend to help you get on top of things! And yay, can’t wait to hear what you think about The Handmaiden’s Tale. Have a great week Daniela 🙂

Wow sounds like had a busy week and that’s nice you were able to do a little bit of everything. Your planner sounds really helpfull. I mostly use google calendar to keep track of things, which works well for me. And I have a notepad on my desk to write thing down as well.
Under Different Stars sounds good, I am looking forward to hear what you think of it. I hope you have a great week!

I love my planner, I do use an on line calendar as well but that is more for just keeping track of normal everyday appointments rather than blog related ones. And I’m a big fan of notebooks too, sometimes inspiration hits and you just need to manually list it out.

I agree with you Grace, scheduling things out the old-fashioned way does feel different. Good different! I’m half way through Under Different Stars and I’m loving it. Kricket is bad ass!

I use an online calendar as well but that is for scheduling my everyday life stuff like appointments. I do find goal setting works well for me but we’re all different.

  5. Rita @ View From My Home

Love your planner! I’m a list-maker too or I’d be lost.
Good luck with your running and I like the name of your new running club.

You’ve been busy lately, but the good kind of busy, so I’m happy for you. Enjoy your week and hope you get to read your new titles.

I would get nothing done without my endless lists! And there is something about just making a list that helps you get your priorities straight so it’s a bit of a win win.

  6. Katherine @ I Wish I Lived in a Library

The Hogwarts Running Club makes me want to start running! That just sounds awesome! You’ve done great on your exercise and I wouldn’t worry too much about a couch potato day now and then. Aren’t you supposed to have a rest day now and then? I’m thinking a planner would help. I have a little one that I use for blog stuff but I think a bigger one would help with exercise and all that. Have a great week!

Well why don’t you start running! Come on don’t you want a HP medal! 🙂 That’s the way a planner worked for me, just using for blog and exercise helps me fit in what I need to fit in. I love mine.

  7. Michelle @ In Libris Veritas

Wow, way to stay busy! I’m normally very organized about blogging and such, but not lately. That medal is just so awesome, I want to do this one so badly. The upcoming Time-Turner event lets you do the previous events and get medals that way and the previous 4 all have awesome medals too.
I hope you enjoy your week! And thank for sharing my Customers post!

The Time-Turner sounds fun and I love the way they are making the events fit with the books. It’s pretty cool 🙂
