August Pick’n’Mix Favourites

August 31, 2015 Between Reads, Monthly Pick'n'Mix 21

So many things are rocking my world lately and I thought I’d start a new feature and share them with you every month.  And I’m calling it pick ‘n’ mix as this is going to be totally random and you might see anything on here!

The only link is that I’m loving them!

Pick 'n' Mix

My Erin Condren Planner:

I’m obsessed with it.  It’s the first time in my life that I’ve used a paper planner but as someone who was always making lists, it was an easy adjustment for me.  I enjoy using apps in my life but for my planner I just prefer old school pen and paper.  It’s pretty and functional and I don’t think I’d even consider using any other planner, this one is perfect for me.  #plannergirl

The Tommy Tiernan Podcast:

This series has only 4 episodes it in but I loved it so much that I spared my listening of them for when I needed cheering up.  They just made me laugh.  They are a chat show hosted by an Irish comedienne and are a little bit off the wall!  I love Tommy Tiernan’s off beat, dark humour but I’m not sure how well it translates outside of Ireland as it’s a very Irish sense of wit.  #funnyman

New Runners:

I knew it was time to update my running runners when I discovered my ankle covered in blood one day as my old ones were so worn out that the edging has split.  Ouch!  I got fitted properly in my local sports shop as I wanted to be sure I was wearing the correct style for my running gait.  I’m an overpronator with low arches so these gel asics are my recommended design.  And they get bonus points for being pinker than pink!  #girlygirl

Greek Yogurt:

For some reason, I always thought Greek Yogurt would be too sour for me. But I’ve been looking for easy ways to add more protein into my diet and this packs quite the protein punch so I started experimenting.  And I’ve discovered that I love it.  It’s so easy to use when cooking for adding a creamy texture or just as a snack with some fruit.  It’s versatile, has a great nutritional content and tastes delicious.  #winner

It’s back to school time and the shops are full of the best stationery.  Just because I don’t go to school doesn’t mean I should have to miss out!  I want all the notebooks and my quest for the perfect pen is an ongoing mission in my life!  These Pilot G-2 07 Gel Pens are my favourite at the moment.  I know, I know on a scale of 1 to super geek, I’m up there at that higher end!  #geek moment

Talk to Trish:  What are you listening to, watching, eating, etc that you are loving?  I love nothing better than finding a little something that I can look forward to indulging myself with so don’t be shy with your recommendations.

I’m so glad you got fitted with the proper shoe for you. So many people don’t understand that not all running shoes are right for them. I used to use paper planners a lot, but they just aren’t as convenient for me anymore. But seriously, I love them. lol

I know and it’s so important. Running puts such stress on the feet and few of us are blessed with the perfect running foot! I’m definitely not but at least the right shoe helps a bit! Paper planners just do it for me 🙂

I’m delighted, I bet you’ll love it! The EC one is a great size as it’s big enough to fit everything in and so if your one is similar then you’re sorted! I love Hello Ashley on Etsy for stickers but I have to restrain myself as the international postage is a bit crazy! Greek Yogurt is yum, why did no one tell me sooner! 🙂

I have an issue with coconut flavoured anything due to a bad incident with a Bounty bar as a child! Put me off for life 😀 I saw a vanilla flavoured one today though and I want to try that soon. Love Glenisk everything!

I’m all about comfort when it comes to shoes! And I’m not even on my feet during work but I can see just how essential it would be if I had kiddies running rings around me! I’m addicted to Greek Yogurt now 🙂

Hope you can get those pens, I’m not sure where that brand is sold but they are worth tracking down. They weren’t expensive either.

I love good pens and buying school supply type stuff. I’ve been wanting to try the Erin Condren planners. They look like so much fun. I have a few lists I use that I keep on my phone but for the most part I prefer pen and paper and use a planner to keep track of stuff but it’s more functional than pretty. Sounds like you’ve found some great stuff this month!

I’m the same, I use my phone for everything but for planning, give me pen and paper. I find just writing the lists and seeing them in my own writing focuses me. And I just like doing it!

I mix the plain one in with lots of others things and I don’t get the tang. I do love the fruit flavoured ones too, I like the extra sweetness 🙂

That is exactly what I used to do before my planner. It works too! But a planner just helps lay everything out better. Stationary makes me happy, even doing the office supplies order for work makes me happy!

omg Pilot Super Pens are the BEST. And I just got an amazing planner too, since school is starting soon (who am I kidding I should have had one when I wasn’t in school too–I missed having one, and who is to say you only need one in school? Nobody, that’s who! lol 😛

Seriously though, I am a huge fan of stationary and cards and pens ad all that stuff that is majorly exciting for me when I “have” to buy them for school (I give away a lot of old ones unless they’re new or really good. usually I use the pens untll they run out! I love the purple one. Wow, we are geeks together 😛 😛

Let me know how you like having a written planner. Do you still use the one on your phone/computer? I do but I can write more details in my handwritten one and it’s divided into sections (Wish I was tech savvy enough to include a pic but alas, maybe Ill twitpic you later).

Ohhh I wanna see your planner! Send photos! I only use my planner for blog and fitness stuff. Everything else I put in my phone calendar as that way I get reminders but I love my written planner so much that I’m thinking of moving more stuff over to it. I’m addicted to buying stickers for it and making it look really pretty as that way I want to actually use it. I don’t think I’ve ever being as organised as now so I guess pen and paper works for me! Stationary is the best!

Your planner looks adorable! I used to have a ganeda/ planner when I went to school, but now that I am at home most days I use a notepad that lies on my deks and google calendar on my computer to keep track of thgins.

I don’t like normal yoghurt, but I like greek yoghurt better as it’s less sour. Although I am still temtped to add something sweet to it as then I like it even better. I sometimes use it when cooking, as it’s less fatty/creamy than creme fraiche and works quite the same.

I am currently watching Star Wars the Clone Wars animated series with my boyfriend and we’re almost finished with the lasts eaosn, I really enjoyed the seires as it adds so much to the star wars universe. I am sad there aren’t mroe episodes.
Oh and I had a pretty bad ice cream craving mood lately and bought yoghurt ice cream, which was really good. This week I bought some magnum ice creams as they were discounted and some chocolate ice cream. Yum!
