July Pick’n’Mix Favourites

July 15, 2015 Between Reads, Monthly Pick'n'Mix 14

So many things are rocking my world lately and I thought I’d start a new feature and share them with you every month.  And I’m calling it pick ‘n’ mix as this is going to be totally random and you might see anything on here!

The only link is that I’m loving them!

Pick 'n' Mix

I have been binge listening to the Invisibilia podcast.  It’s SO good.  It’s all about the invisible things in your life that you can’t see but that affect your daily life.  Like fear and thoughts and beliefs.  It has introduced me to new ideas and I’ve learnt even what quantum entanglement is, I can’t wait to impress everyone I meet with this!  Every episode is such a different experience and it’s all done in a very chatty, breezy style.  I can’t recommend it enough.

My favourite snack most evenings has been Peanut Butter and Banana.  I’m still working hard on operation Trish Transforms and I’ve cut a lot of crap out of my diet.  So I love that this little treat tastes so good but still has lots of nutritional goodness going on too.  I’ve found over the last few months that I’m craving foods that are working with my body rather than the processed ‘treats’ that I used to over indulge in.  Don’t worry I still have some of those too though!

Another new favourite is this Yoo Moo Frozen Yogurt.  Mmmhhhh!  So good.  This brand was on special in my local Aldi store and yay because I’ve discovered a new love.  But urrgghh because on special means that it won’t be there every week.  Let the search commence for another stockist.

And True Detective, series 2 has been making my Mondays a lot less blue.  We are three episodes in now and I’m really enjoying it.  From the haunting music at the start, to the great cast and a storyline that I haven’t got a clue where it’s heading, this is reeling me right in.

A year round favourite of mine is my Clarins Hand Cream.  I always have a tube of it on my desk at work and whenever I need a little pick me up, I apply some.  I love the scent and my hands appreciate the non greasy moisture boost too.

One of treasured treats is to slip away to a coffee shop with just me and a great book.  It is something that I had forgotten how much I loved but now I make the effort to make sure I do it at least once a month.  My favourite drink during the summer is a refreshing lemonade.  Buzz + Zingy drink + Book = BLISS.

I also had a trip to one of favourite places this month.  It is a lake near my house that it just perfect for walking and thinking and even a spot of reading.  It is so peaceful and I always come away a little bit renewed after visiting it.  The picture is a bit dark but take my word for it, it’s beautiful.  As much as I enjoy material things, nothing can beat the experience of being somewhere that makes your heart sing.  So I think this is a good one to end this first series of my monthly favourites with.

Talk to Trish:  What are you listening to, watching, eating, etc that you are loving?  I love nothing better than finding a little something that I can look forward to indulging myself with so don’t be shy with your recommendations.

I’m enjoying True Detective S2 too but it seems like everybody else is hating it?! I’m talking critics – it is getting really bad reviews! I wasn’t going to check this out because S1 was hit and miss for me, but then Taylor Kitsch was cast and I was all over it. Lol! I’m so shallow, I know. I think Colin Farrell is great in this too.

I like the look of that Frozen Yogurt. Haven’t seen it around, though. And that lake looks beautiful! 🙂

Sounds like you’ve got some lovely things going on! I love the banana peanut butter combination plus it’s so filling! I’m glad I’m not the only one who has no idea where the plot is going to go in True Detective. I am liking it but man those people are seriously messed up!

I am a huge fan of bananas and peanut butter as my snack!! I like the banana cold so I always make sure to have in the fridge for a while first. definitely hits the spot! I didn’t watch the first season of True Detective but the second has so many actors I like I might have to try it.

I just bookmarked Invisibilia. I’ll listen to it when I have headphones. My son might like it too. Mmmm I love peanut butter and banana lightly drizzled with honey on a really good wheat bread. That’s usually what I gave my son for snack when he was younger. We still eat it though. And now I want one …

The lake is lovely! And I’ll check out Invisibilia. When I first saw it I thought you meant 99% Invisible, which is another great podcast, mostly on design (of all kinds of things.) We listen to Radiolab, too.

Peanut butter and banana sounds yummy. I need to work on what I eat, too. Well… I’m trying. 🙂

Frozen yoghurt is the best *sigh* I definitely prefer it over ice cream 🙂 Peanut butter and banana sounds like a curious combination, I might have to give it a try. I assume it’s a wee bit salty and a little sweet? Hmm.

Ah Clarins, their skincare is the only stuff that’s heavy enough for my insanely dry skin but it doesn’t leave me greasy.

This is a lovely new feature! 😀 I love hearing about awesome things in friends’ lives! ^_^ Mmm, banana and PB is one of my favourite things. 😀 I love a PB sandwich and a banana, or maybe a PB+banana+nutella sandwich when I’m feeling particularly indulgent. 😛
