1.  Breathe, Annie, Breathe : And not just because the cover screams summer but because it’s a cute but still deep read.
2.  Vanishing Girls : It’s set over a summer and adds a little edge to your sunbathing
3.  Anna and the French Kiss : No explanation needed
4.  Maybe Someday : Because no one will see the tears behind your sunglasses.

99 Days by Katie CotugnoBeautiful Day by Elin HilderbrandThe Long Fall

5.  99 Days – this book is super summery and made me feel kind of mad but I loved it
6.  Beautiful Day – family drama, wedding commotions and luxury settings just perfect for fun in the sun
7.  The Long Fall – Because 1980s Greece setting and a riveting page turner

ConfessOnly Ever YoursDangerous Girls

8.  Confess:  Every beach bag needs a beautiful, haunting book that will break your heart and mend your heart
9.   Only Ever Yours: Because it’s best YA dystopia that I’ve read in years.
10.  Dangerous Girls : It would make a great photo against the sand (spot the #bookstagram addict). Ohh and it blew my mind!

Colleen Hoover is an auto-buy author for me, I love her emotional storylines and she makes me feel every emotion whilst reading. And yay, glad you found some new reads 🙂

  1. Grace @ Rebel Mommy Book Blog

I think they are great recs! Colleen’s books are definitely great summer reads and definitely Anna and the French Kiss. I like your pick of Vanishing Girls because a good edu book is great to break up all the romancey stuff. I really want to read Breathe, Annie, Breathe and 99 Days. Great list!

I loved Breathe Annie Breathe and I really want to try more by this author over the summer as I really enjoy that her books are sports focused. 99 Days is a different type of book but I thoroughly enjoyed it!

  2. Emma

I haven’t heard of some of these and I’m still yet to read something by Lauren Oliver! I hope you enjoy these books 🙂 I’m a new follower so hiya! Here’s my TTT if you would like to check it out! Have a great day 🙂

I love Lauren Oliver, her writing is amazing. Even when I don’t love her plots, I still have to admire the way she strings words together.

Funny enough I didn’t overly love Anna when I was reading as I was expecting more. But then I found that I remembered everything about it and realised it made a much better impression on me than I had thought at the time. And 99 Days was great!

I wish more people would read Only Ever Yours, it deserves to be more widely recognised than it is. And I need to read more books by Miranda Kenneally this summer.

  3. Greg

Nice list. I like Vanishing Girls because I’ve been thinking of that one, since I liked another of her books. And The Long Fall- the Greece setting would pull me in too, I’m sure. I have a soft spot for Greece, and set in the 80’s? OK. 🙂 That sound like a good book, I may have to check that one out.

I’m such a fan of Lauren Olivers writing and the way she strings words together. And The Long Fall pulled me in for those exact reasons too! It was great 🙂

  4. Jessica@Lovin' Los Libros

Oh yay! I put Breathe, Annie, Breathe on mine too! I am so reading that series this summer! Anna is another great choice- fun, sweet, and cute! I love that you put some heavier reads on here too! I typically like my beach reads on the lighter side, but I can also do books that pull me in and never let me go (like Maybe Someday!) Great list Trish!

I think my beach reading is like my overall reading and anything goes! I do find it easier to read romance on the beach though as it’s easier to pick up and put down and you don’t have to over think them.

Both BAB and AATFK are perfect summer books. They are adorable and have unforgettable characters and PARIS! CH is great, I can’t recommend her highly enough when you want an emotional romance.

Oh, nice idea that you made a list of beach books that you already have read so you can recommend them! I’m eyeing The Long Fall, anything by Colleen Hoover (just because of all her great buzz), and Vanishing Girls because I’ve read two of my daughter’s Lauren Oliver stories and found they made me forget I don’t read YA! I did read that Elin Hilderbrand book– an author I recommend for summer reads. Thanks Trish, for a great list!

I kind of did it that way by accident and then was too lazy to change it! Oh well :O I think you’d love The Long Fall as you read so many thrillers and this one has a great setting. And while Vanishing Girls wasn’t my favourite LO book, I still really enjoyed it as I just love her writing. Colleen Hoover deserves all that buzz, nobody does emotional romances like she does. And I need to read more Elin Holderbrand as this is the only one that I’ve read so far.

Beautiful Day was a perfect escapism read and it would go perfect with a lounger and lots of sun!

    • trish

I read Dangerous Girls last year and LOVED it! Such a dark read and I loved how it kept me guessing the whole way through.

  6. Aimee @ Deadly Darlings

I’m so glad Breathe, Annie, Breathe made it to your list! It was definitely a fun beach read with a lot of depth too. 🙂 I agree with your pick of Anna as well. 😉 Although personally, I didn’t like Maybe Someday, I know a lot of readers will enjoy it! 99 Days definitely made me mad… but I liked the ending, if that counts for anything. Ha–Dangerous Girls would definitely be an awesome book for beach photoshoots! And the book was just absolutely fantastic. 🙂

    Thanks for sharing, Trish!

Thanks Aimee, I really liked the depth in Breathe, Annie, Breathe too but what really impressed me was how it wasn’t as sad or as heavy as you might think from the synopsis. I think nearly everyone loves Anna! And I’m so bringing Dangerous Girls for a photoshoot this summer! 🙂
