The Sunday Post : Get your Bookish News #65

April 19, 2015 meme 56

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  Grab a cuppa and let me bend your ear (eyes?) for a few minutes with all my bookish news.

Sunday Post   *********************************************************************************************************************************

This week I felt like crafting so I pulled out all my old scrapbooking supplies and had a ball rediscovering all my old treasures.  And then got all nostalgic looking at my scrapbooks and all the great memories in them and some bittersweet ones too.  It reminded me to get cracking again and update them with new memories.  And it also made me want to go shopping for loads of new stationery!  Which I may or may not have done :O

I’ve also gone a bit crazy and decided to join 3 blog events in May:

Yep, it’s going to be a busy month!  I’ll be updating my progress on them all via The Sunday Post but for now I’ve made goals for Blog Ahead.  Any excuse to use my new stationery!

Blog Ahead Goals

Second Chance Sunday – What happened here lately:

Second Chance Sunday – What caught my eye.  Why not go Sunday visiting?

Rachel @ Parajunkee reveals Six Ways To Tell You’re a Book Hoarder.  Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes and yes!  It’s official!

Stormy @ Book Blog Bake shares How She Comes Up with Ideas for Discussions.  I always love insights into how other bloggers plan and organise their blogs and posts.

Jess @ Lovin’ Los Libros discusses The effects of being a YA reader and teacher.  I love this post.

Books I have received to review:

Her Sister's Shoes by Ashley Farley

Thanks to the author for this Her Sister’s Shoes.  It’s about sisters and I’m a huge fan of family sagas so I’m looking forward to this one.

Books I have Bought!

Alienated Weightless

I grabbed Alienated for 99c on Amazon.  I couldn’t leave it behind for that price.

And I bought Weightless in Dublin last weekend.  I’ve already read it and it’s devastatingly brilliant.  Review coming next week.

True Calling

I read an extract of True Calling over at Lola’s Reviews and then snagged it for free on Amazon.  It sounds like a fun SciFi read which is a genre I’ve really gotten in to over the last 12 months or so.

Well, that’s  my week wrapped up.  Happy Reading to all.   How was your week?  Any books you were really excited about?

I think I may need to join the ARC Clean Sweep Challenge. I have so many ARCs to read. Ha. Can’t wait to see your review for Weightless. I have that one on my TBR.

Stationery has just gotten so good over the last few years, we are spoilt for choice. I ordered a planner lately that I’m going to use just for the blog, I can’t wait for it to come! Your blog book sounds lovely.

    • trish

I can’t believe I’m doing 3 big events in the same month but we’ll see what happens! I’m really looking forward to Alienated.

    Hi Trish,
Glad to see you’ll be in Blog Ahead hosted by Herding Cats and Burning Soup and Clean Sweep ARC Challenge hosted by our own Kim, The Caffeinated Reviewer. I’ll signed up too. Through you link here I went
and read the FAQs of “Armchair BEA”. Sounds so cool! I sooo want to sign up for it! but I’m afraid to overcommit. Decisions… Decisions 🙂

Armchair BEA is a lot of fun and you make great connections with other bloggers. I’m not going to blog on all the topics, just pick and choose the ones that appeal to me. And it’s flexible you can do as much or as little as you want.

  3. Lola

Scrapbooking sounds like fun and that must be awesome to check out all the books you made in the past now that you decided to pick it up again. And I can imagine some memories are bittersweet. I also signed-up for Blog Ahead! I joined Armchair BEA last year and had a lot of fun, I’ll check out to site to decide if I can and want to participate again this year.
And yay for grabbing True calling! I hope you’ll enjoy it, I really enjoy this series so far and am eagerly awaiting the release of the last book in the series.

I skipped Armchair BEA last year but I did join in the previous year and really enjoyed it. I like the idea that there is a theme of diverse books for this year and it’s a good way of finding new blogs too.

  4. Laurel-Rain Snow

Scrapbooking sounds like such fun! I did a version of it when I was younger, but had none of the fancy accouterments that today’s scrapbooker uses. Enjoy!

Her Sister’s Shoes looks like a delightful read. Enjoy…and thanks for visiting my blog.

A cousin of mine is big into scrapbooking. She got so into that she works for a company! I’m not into scrapbooking but it is nice to do something with all of your pictures.

I don’t quite get the stationery love. 😀 Like you, I’m doing Blog Ahead and Clean Sweep ARC Challenge. We will be busy indeed! I did Armchair BEA my first year, it was good. Have fun!

I kind of do a mix of scrapbooking and journaling and am looking forward to getting back into it. Can I have all your stationery quota then :O

    • trish

I know what you mean, I have too many hobbies and it’s impossible to fit them all in. There is always something being neglected!

  6. Christy

Sheesh … I went to snag Alienated only to discover I already bought it. I like scrap booking, but never finish. I want to pay someone to scrapbook for me. lol. Have a great week and good luck on the blog events.

  7. Samantha

I would love to start scrapbooking but I have yet to really take the time and do it. I love the sound of all the events that you are participating in. Makes me want to join a few of them myself! Especially working on getting posts written and scheduled ahead of time. That would be amazing! Have a great week and good luck with all of these!

I need that scheduling event so much and I’m hoping that it will set me up for the summer and give me some breathing space 🙂

  8. Deborah

I’m keen to read Weightless as I’ve been hearing some positive things about it. Her Sister’s Shoes also looks like a good read.

    Have a great week.

I’m looking forward to Her Sister’s Shoes as I always like family drama style stories. Hope you are having a great week.

    • trish

I think Weightless would appeal to non YA readers too as it’s a look with all that is wrong with the direction society is heading in. I loved it!

  9. Stormi

I always try the blog ahead and then never do it…but I do blog ahead on my’s like if I sign up something comes up but if I don’t then I get things You look organized for it so I hope you get a lot done. 🙂

Hope you own version of blog ahead goes smoothly so. And I know what you mean, everytime I sign up for a readathon, I always end up doing something else.
      And yay re Alienated!

  10. Shannon @ It Starts At Midnight

Whoa, Alienated was 99 cents!? I may need to see if it still is! And THREE blog events in May!? You are going to be busy! Though I am thinking about doing the Blog Ahead one, because I need to get ahead before BEA. SO I guess I am technically doing two myself 😉 You have also reminded me that I need a new notebook hahha. And I love the posts you linked to- my goodness, that book hoarder one is TRUE! Hope you have a wonderful week and enjoy the new books 🙂

Ohhh, you are going to BEA, lucky you! 🙂 I’m not sure if Alienated is still on sale but hope you managed to snag it, if it was! It seems to have gotten some positive reaction in this weeks comments so I’m glad I have it now.

  11. Dee @ Dee's Reads

Looks like you had a great week trish! I like the books you bought. Lemme know how Alienated is 😀 k

Boo to the reality! I hate that moment when you are back in work and it’s like your vacation never even happened. Hope you get to plan another one soon 🙂

  12. Michelle @ In Libris Veritas

I love scrapbooking, though I haven’t worked on my personal ablums in some time. I do have two devoted to book related stuff like bookmarks from authors & blogs, etc. And I am a stationary addict. I barely even use journals and notebooks, but that doesn’t stop me from buying them. 😛

I’ll have to check out the blogging ahead event. I’ve participated in Armchair BEA before and it was a lot of fun, and of course I join everything Kimba hosts.

I have some swag that I really should make a scrapbook for and someday when I have time I will! I also want to start a quotes one and I find journals great for that.

    • trish

I’m slowly turning my cluttered spare bedroom back into a library and a craft room and I can’t wait till I have it the way I want it. My space just to read, blog and create! 🙂

  13. Wattle

Oh stationery shopping! I have a weakness. I went to buy a stapler once, and came back with a giant box full of other stuff I discovered I NEEDED once I got to the store 😉 I sometimes feel like I’m on a lifelong journey to find the perfect pen (and notebook, and ruler, and pencils).

I hope you have fun with your crafting! And good luck with your upcoming events!

Oh I love when I met another stationery addict! Most people don’t get it! I have a feeling we would get on so well 🙂 And of course you couldn’t leave with just a stapler, that would be a wasted trip!

    • trish

Delighted to hear that! Both are fab 🙂 Hope you get to them sometime and enjoy them every bit as much as I did.

  14. Bookworm Brandee

Oooh, I scrapbook, too! I’m miserably behind but I recently spent a weekend working at getting my oldest ‘into high school’ in her album. (she’ll be a senior next year!) Paper is a weakness of mine – stationary, books…I love it all. I’m glad you spent some time crafting, reminiscing, and shopping. 🙂 You also managed to snag some great looking books!
