The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  Grab a cuppa and let me bend your ear (eyes?) for a few minutes with all my bookish news.

Randomness:

Happy Easter everyone!  Hope you are all enjoying those eggs today!  I’ve decided not to bother this year as I’ve really lost the taste for chocolate, I prefer more savoury treats.  Like all the carbs!  So I asked my husband for a voucher for a facial instead.  I think he definitely got the raw end of the deal as he could have bought 5 eggs for the same price!

We are also going away for the day so I’ll be a bit late getting back to you on comments but I’ll catch you sooner or later!  And if you want read about Easter Eggs in books (the tricky ones not the edible ones) while you are munching away on your own egg, check out my post about Easter Eggs in the Book World.

I had a quick look at my stats for March too and it confirmed my suspicions that I’m reading a lot less this year. I read 9 books in March so I have slowed down a lot as I probably read just under double that last March.  But I’m ok with that, I never want to feel pressured to read and I enjoyed the time I did spend with my books.  I’ve had a few social events in March, a few day trips and I’m also making the time to exercise 5/6 times a week.  So I’m happier that I’m now getting more balance into my life.  And the best thing is when I do snuggle down with a book, it is all the sweeter just because I’m doing less of it.

Second Chance Sunday – What happened here lately:

Second Chance Sunday – What caught my eye.  Why not go Sunday visiting?

Amanda @ Beautiful Bookish Butterflies has a great post for when You Don’t Like Writing Reviews.  It’s full of great ideas and it’s always good to mix it up now and again to stop you getting bored or feeling repetitive.

Beatrice @ Book for Thought wants to know Do Discussions Ever Get Old?  And my answer is no!  I love book discussions and book chat, I don’t care how many times the discussion has been had, it always fun to read a new persons thoughts on it and the subsequent comments too.

Leanne @ Daisy Chain Book Reviews reflects on THE EVER-CHANGING WORLD OF BOOKS AND BLOGGING that she has noticed in her 5 years of blogging.  It’s a really interesting post and there’s a giveaway too.

Stormy @ Book Blog Bake talks about The Unpredictability of “Me!” Books.  Like all Stormy’s posts, this one is very thought-provoking and will have you thinking what your ‘me’ books are, if you know what I mean!

Asti @ Oh, The Books! declares Her Love of Villains!  I have to admit I have a soft spot for a thoroughly evil villain too (but only in books, not in real life!).

Books I have received to review:

If You Were MeResonance by Celine Kiernan

Thanks to Chicken House for If You Were Me.  It’s a YA contemporary thriller about a family who have escaped Afghanistan for Britain where the main character’s brother is accused of a bomb attack.  I love how different it sounds and I’m all for diversity in books so I’m looking forward to it.

Thanks to The O’Brien Press for Resonance.  Isn’t that cover fab?  It’s a YA Fantasy by an Irish Author and is set in 1890s Dublin.  I’m very excited!

Books I have bought:

Becoming Rain The Stranger

I had an audible credit to use up so I got Becoming Rain.  I’m loving this series by K A Tucker.

Of course the new Harlan Coben book – The Stranger – made it home with me too.  How could I resist, he is an auto-buy for me.

Thankfully chocolate is one thing I can pass on easily enough. Now if only I could say the same about huge portions of carbs! :O

Thanks Daniela! I’ll have to comeback to you on the button code, I took it off the blog a while ago as I was trying to see what was slowing the site down. It’s on my work computer so I’ll email it to you tomorrow 🙂
And yes I’m very excited about Resonance too, it’s gorgeous!

Yay Becoming Rain! I ended up really liking that one! 😀

It’s still early in the day, but I haven’t bought any Easter treats. I’m really proud, especially since I said starting tomorrow I was seriously kicking my butt into gear. No more cheating, no more snacking, nothing. I have 2 months to get in the shape I want and I am going to make it happen!

I hope you and your hubby have a wonderful day and a Happy Easter!

Hope it’s all going well Jess! I’m finding summer a huge motivation too 🙂 Nothing like the thought of shedding the layers to keep me on the straight and narrow!

  2. Lola

Happy easter! We got a bag of choclate eggs and bunnies from my mom yesterday, so we both took turns hiding and searching for them, it was a lot of fun! I am readign less books than I did a couple of years back, but I don’t mind as my life has gotten more busy and there’s less time to read.

The cover for Resonance is so pretty and it sounds like a great book! I hope you’ll enjoy it! Have a great week!

Oh that sounds like such fun Lola. I’m definitely stealing that idea next year, why should kids have all the fun! 🙂

  3. R_Hunt @ View From My Home

Nice post! I totally agree with enjoying books more if you aren’t forced to read for review or rushed to clean out your TBR pile. I have slowed down on my reading but I’m also being more particular about what books I buy or request from Netgalley. I only make impulse choices when in the library (free) and the used book store (very cheap).

Enjoy the rest of your Easter holiday! I would love a facial, but I do like chocolate and savory, so… decisions, decisions 🙂

I’m trying to be more restrained too as I’m reading less so I can’t commit to as many review books. Plus I have my own stacks to get though too. Trying being the key word! Some weeks it works, some weeks it doesn’t!

  4. Dee @ Dee's Reads

Ooh a facial sounds like a much healthier and self-caring option than chocolate! I got some twizzlers aka licorice and enjoyed that with a good workout at the gym.
I read a lot less this year too, I’ve noticed. But there’s a lot of reasons for that like you said and I’m at peace with it more because I’m being more vigilant about taking the time off and making sure I read and take care of myself.
Sounds like you had a great Easter weekend! Have a great week Trish! 😀

Our gym was closed all Easter! But it didn’t matter as the weather was fab so I got lots of walking and running done and I just love being outside.
So glad it’s Spring and the weather is more exercise friendly now 🙂

    • trish

It’s proving to be a great trade off for me, I know I’m enjoying it more. Now I just need to stop taking on so many books knowing I’m getting though less!

  5. emilia m.

Just finished an ARC “May Contain Spies” by J.A. Cipriano 🙂 so packed with action I was catching myself holding my breath for longer periods of time 😀 fun read 🙂

    • trish

I had a fab Easter! Now that I’ve slowed down with my reading, I am noticing that lingering longer with a book is working well for me! Apart from having heart failure when I see my TBR!

  6. Berls

I love the facial idea – I mean I love my chocolate too, but a facial will look a lot better on me 😉

I’m glad slowing down has brought you back some of the joy of reading – I know I sometimes have to step back and slow down to enjoy it more too. Hope you’ve had a great week!
