Randomness:
It’s the daylights savings shift here today. So boo I lost an hour in bed but I’ll take it just to have those long evenings back again. I’ll be happy to take more of my workouts out of the gym and get outside in the fresh air.
I’ve been having a very relaxing, low key weekend binge-reading The Lunar Chronicles. I loved Cinder but then somehow just never got back to this series. I’m making up for lost time now though! When things like this happen, I kick myself for neglecting books that I KNOW are great. Lesson learnt….maybe….
And I’m also batch cooking and stocking my freezer up so that I have lots of healthy options for those evenings where I’m pushed for time and don’t have a moment to cook. I love knowing that I’ve got lots of my favourites tucked away. On a not so healthy note, we had a coffee morning and cake sale in work this week to raise money for Daffodil Day/Cancer Research. It was yum!

Second Chance Sunday – What caught my eye. Why not go Sunday visiting?
Tonya @ Lilybloombooks is ranting about Hype this week! I’ve been a victim 🙁 Not that I think book bloggers praise a book undeservedly, it’s just when you read zillions of great reviews, it can then be hard for the book to deliver.
Anna @ Herding Cats & Burning Soup chats about Accepting books you wouldn’t buy..And honestly, I just don’t do it. My biggest investment is time and if I wouldn’t buy it, then I don’t want to spend my time with it.
Dee and Alex @ Dee’s Reads are discussing the dreaded Book Blogger Nightmares – Reading Slumps *shudders* It happens and they suck!

Books I have received to review:

Thanks to Edelweiss and Simon Pulse for my copy of Hotel Ruby. I love hotel settings and the synopsis of this one sounds very ghostly and intriguing. I’m excited about it!
Thanks to Bookbridgr and Headline review for The Secrets We Share. You know me and secrets, I have to read all about them! Especially family ones. By the way the cover isn’t up on Goodreads yet so I’m sharing my own photo with you instead.

Books I have bought:

I used my audible credit on The Silent Sister. I loved the first Diane Chamberlain book that I read a few months ago and I’m eager to try something else by her now.

Well, that’s my week wrapped up. Happy Reading to all. How was your week? Any books you were really excited about?
Christy
Yay for the binge read. I love that series. And that may not have been a very healthy breakfast, but I bet it was sooo worth it. 😉

100% worth it!

That cake sale looks awesome! There are a lot of reasons I am happy I can’t eat gluten. That kind of spread would be one of them.
I would gain so much weight!

It was delicious! I choose just my fav thing there though (lemon drizzle cake) and savoured every bite. It was worth every calorie! And yes it was hard not to sample everything!
Lola
Oh that coffee morning and cake sale sounds like a lot of fun and it looks like there were lots of yummies! It looks delicious! Daylight saving also started here today, I always hate losing that extra hour, but I went to bed an hour earlier then normal, so I am not noticing too much of it yet. I hope you havea great week!

I hate cutting an hour out of my weekend and I know I’ll feel the difference on Mon morning. But I’ll get over it when I have a brighter evening, I hate the dark, it makes me lazy.
Catherine @ Book Club Librarian
Catching up on reading and cooking future meals sounds like the perfect week to me. And you’ve got nice new books to take you into the new month. Enjoy, Trish.

I love these weekends that are quiet enough to give me time to catch up a little and get organised.
Amanda @ Beautiful Bookish Butterflies
I’ve heard positive things about Hotel Ruby, so good luck with that Trish. Keep up the healthy eating and I’ve lost an hour here too (UK) so I feel your pain! Good luck for next week! 🙂

Thanks Amanda, the lost hour will be worth it but tomorrow morning will be hard! I’ve high hopes for Hotel Ruby but haven’t read any reviews yet so good to hear that.
Shaina
We went through the Daylight Savings Time shift a couple of weeks ago. I felt hungover for days!
And oh my goodness, look at all that cake. I would have given myself the worst stomach ache for sure.

Arrgghh, don’t say that! I’m hoping to make myself go to bed early tonight and that I won’t have too much of an adjustment. I’m not a great sleeper so I kind of hate changes like this. But yay for long evenings!
And believe me it was hard work not devouring everything in sight! 🙂
Katherine @ I Wish I Lived in a Library
You got Silent Sister! That’s high up on my TBR! It sounds fantastic. I didn’t enjoy the whole spring forward thing when we did it a few weeks ago but I do like the longer evenings. I haven’t read Cinder yet but I really want to. Good luck getting through the series this weekend and have a great week!
Oh and those cakes look amazing!

You can actually download an excerpt of Silent Sister on GR, I just noticed today when I was adding it to my currently reading. Not sure how long it is but might be worth doing if you want to see whether to buy it or not.
Cinder is fab and I know you don’t love YA but I’d highly recommend this one.
S. J. Pajonas
We had the daylight saving shift here a few weeks ago and I was useless for an entire week! Lol. I cannot take those kinds of shifts. I would be a bad world-traveler.
That table full of goodies looks really tasty! I’ve had quite a sweet tooth lately 🙂

I know, I feel you. I’m a rubbish sleeper so changes like this can throw me right off. I’m hoping an early night tonight will make things easier.
You would not have wanted to be at that coffee morning with a sweet tooth, there was WAY too much temptation!

The Lunar Chronicles is a perfect example of HYPE lol I just don’t love that series. Also, YUMMY FOOOOOOOD.

Tonya, I hate you! The Lunar Chronicles is AMAZING! LOL And there I go feeding the hype
monster 🙂 I wonder is a lot of what we call hype, just different reactions to books.

Laurel-Rain Snow
I loved The Silent Sister…and I am reading my first Colleen Hoover book, Ugly Love, which has been tucked away on my Kindle for a few weeks.
If I love the author, I know I want to read Confess.
The Secrets We Share looks enticing…and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

Ugly Love is the only CoHo book I haven’t read yet. I’m not really sure if the cheating storyline is for me and I have avoided it. But I can’t recommend all the others enough. I’m a huge book pusher for all her books 🙂
Bea @Bea's Book Nook
Binge reading is such fun, I haven’t done it in ages. We lost our hour a few weeks but it was worth it for the later afternoon and evening.
Mmm, bake sales, nom. They have such yummy food.
Have a great week!

I actually can’t remember the last time either that I binge-read a series. I had forgotten what good fun it is!
Alma @ Journey Through Fiction
Ohh all that food looks fabulous! I would have been so tempted to try a little of everything 🙂
And YAY for The Lunar Chronicles! I loved both Cinder and Scarlet. I bought Cress not too long ago, and I can’t wait to continue on with the series 😀 Have a great week, Trish!

You know one thing I’ve never done is binge read a series…I’ve always wanted to…but then I try and I only get two books in before I just give up. I envy you for being able to do it, lol.
I hope you have a good week this week Trish!

Oh I’m so excited for Hotel Ruby! I really like Suzanne’s writing! I’m the same way with the Lunar Chronicles. I read Cinder but never continued with the series. Maybe I will once all the books are out. I batch cook too. I love freezing meals and getting them out. It makes life so much easier!
Berls
I hope you’re feeling all adjusted to the time change – that’s always hard for me. At least it means you’ll be able to take your workout outside 🙂 I love the Lunar Chronicles series and I really need to read Fairest still. How far have you caught up? Hope you’re having a great week!
