February is my month for Winning at Reading!

February 1, 2015 Book Event 20

Winning at Reading is a challenge hosted by Bea at Bea’s Book Nook and it’s all about making time for those books you’ve won or have been given a pressie of.  I think it’s a fab idea!  And this year I haven’t joined any yearly challenges so it has given me the freedom to participate in monthly ones like this.  Check out Bea’s blog for more details and by the way, there is a competition too!

Winning at Reading

Somehow the books I win always seem to linger on the bottom of my TBR list.  And this makes me feel guilty as I only enter competitions for books I really want.  My heart skips a beat with excitement when I win and then ….they just sit there..and sit there…and sit there!  WHY!  I’m so glad that in Feb, I’m going to make an effort to show them some love.

I’m planning to get through at least 2 and hopefully even 3.  And I’m going to be choosing from these beauties.  As you can see I have given myself lots of choice and that’s because I’m a mood reader and I like the picking and choosing.  Even for challenges I can’t read to a schedule so having lots of choice will help me to win!

I’ll be updating my progress on The Sunday Post, fingers crossed I’ll be telling you all how much I am finally appreciating my luck in winning these.

Talk to Trish: Have you read any of these?  Do you suck at reading books that you’ve won like I do?

Oooh, Parasite’s cover pulled me RIGHT in! I hope you get to that one.

I’ve never actually won a book and receive few as presents (I *did* get a cookbook and Montaigne’s complete works this Christmas, but neither is something I can churn through), but this sounds like the perfect challenge for you!

    Best of luck. 🙂

Parasite is one of those books that I was super excited to win and I’m kicking myself that I’ve neglected it for so long.
I guess I am lucky at winning books but then again since I started blogging I’ve entered a lot of competitions when something catches my eye!

I’m kind of on the fence about The Rosie Project too! It sounds dull when I read the synopsis but then I look on GR and there is SO much love for it. I’ll hopefully squeeze it in this month.

What a fun idea for a monthly readign reading challenge! I hadn’t ehard of this one before. I don’t win a lot of books, but I have some won books I still haven’t read. I know the last time I won a book I really enjoyed it and am now reviewing more books for that author. I love it when that happens and a book you won turns out to be really good.

I was excited when I saw this challenge as it gives me a good chance to finally read those books I’ve won and let gather dust! And it’s great when winning a book introduces you to a new author to love, such a win win!

What a good idea to give yourself a range of books to choose from! That should make it easier to actually get some read. And yes, I’m like you. I am so excited when I win and when the book arrives, and then the book just sits there, giving me sad puppy-face, “read me, please?” 😛

Glad to have you on board!

I don’t know why I keep putting off the Rosie Project but hopefully I’ll get to it this month! At least when you get to them, you can read both together and won’t have to wait for a sequel!

Ooh, yay for Parasite and The Rosie Project! I didn’t think either was amazing, but they were both really fun. Also, I haven’t read it yet, but the Stephen King looked interesting… I’m less inclined to read it now, though, that I know it’s going to be a trilogy. Not like I don’t have enough unread King to keep me busy until it’s complete.

I didn’t actually realise the King book was a trilogy…that doesn’t excite me. I really don’t want to start any more series. And I’m excited about Parasite, that sounds great. But for some reason The Rosie Project doesn’t excite me, if I get to it I hope I enjoy it as much as you did.

      • Charleen

I don’t think it’s super cliffhangery. If I remember right, he didn’t announce he was writing more books in the series until a while after this one came out, and I only remember good reviews, nothing saying “where’s the rest of the story?!”

But since I haven’t read it yet and probably won’t read it pre-baby and the next book comes out in June already… just seems like it’ll be easier to wait than to read these two and then be waiting on the last one.

One is good as it’s one off the list! Hope you enjoy whatever you choose and aren’t we lucky to have such a selection of winnings to choose from 🙂

  6. Dee @ Dee's Reads

I haven’t read any of these! So many great choices though. YES i do suck at reading books I win!! Although, I plan to change that. Especially because I enter so few giveaways lately that I have won a few that I actually do want to read really bad so I’m planning to read one in Feb. 😀

Good luck Trish! I’m excited to see which book you choice 😀

I rarely enter giveaways anymore as I have too much guilt over the ones I already have on hand. Maybe now I can clear the decks to add some more!

  7. Jessica@Lovin' Los Libros

I totally suck at reading books I’ve won! Then again, I’ve only won a few because I don’t enter that many giveaways, but still! I’m really interested in In The Shadow of Blackbirds! I hope it’s good! Fingers crossed! I can’t wait to hear about your progress!
