Seven Deadly Sins – Bookish Tag

December 5, 2014 Bookish Fun 16

I was tagged by Rita from View From My Home to do this Seven Deadly Sins confessional.  Of course there is nothing sinful about books or reading, no judgement here, so if you’d like to do this too, consider yourself tagged!

1. Greed:

What is your most expensive book?

I don’t spend a lot of money on individual books.  I’m an unashamed master bargain hunter.  I scour amazon daily deals every morning, watch for sales in my local book shop and regularly haunt charity shops for bargains.  So this is a hard one for me, I can’t think of any expensive book that I’ve purchased.  Pass!

2. Wrath:

What author do you have a love/hate relationship with?

Hmmmhh, I’m not doing very good with this.  I can’t think of any.  There is no one that I love and also hate. So instead I’ll tell you about an author I love , the amazing Tana French and what I hate is how long she takes between books.  Years! *heavy sigh*

3. Gluttony:

What book have you devoured over and over again with no shame?

So many!  I’m an avid re-reader (more so pre-blog but I’m trying to make more time for this). I have read the entire Harry Potter series umpteen times and have every intention of reading it umpteen more.  What is this shame you talk of?

4. Sloth:

Which book have you neglected reading due to laziness?

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.  I know I’d probably love it but every time I try to read it, I get bogged down in the first few pages, there is so much to remember and I just give up.  Some day!

5. Pride:

What book do you most talk about in order to sound like an intellectual reader?

50 Shades of Gray!  *snorts*  Nope, I never talk about books to sound intellectual. I just read what I want, when I want and couldn’t care less about being considered intellectual.  Plus I’d rather sound passionate about my book choices then impress someone with a so-called high brow book.

6. Lust:

What attributes do you find attractive in a male or female character?

When it comes to female characters, I like them brave, snarky and loyal.  And when it comes to male characters, I’m a sucker for a bad boy as long as it doesn’t run too deep.  Surface level bad with the heart of a puppy!  And I love when characters like to read, that’s an instant connection for me.

7. Envy:

What book would you most like to receive as a gift?

I’m not fussy!  Anything off my wish list.  But I do think half the fun of books is the choosing of them so that’s why gift tokens are my preferred pressie.  At least it makes me easy to buy for as friends and family know the quickest way to my heart is with a book token.

Haha great tag! I did this one last year! So long ago lol. Love your answers. I never got into Girl with a dragon tattoo either. I have it but doubt I’ll ever get to it ..like you within the first page I was like ehhhh and felt lazy. Haha.

Absolutely! What’s the fun in reading something that doesn’t appeal to you just because it looks impressive to other people?!

  2. Lola

I loved this tag, I did it a while ago. Just like you I had trouble thinking of a book for Pride, I don’t see the point in trying to sound intellectual and like you I prefer to be passionate. I wish I made more time to re-read, there are some books I would love to re-read one day. Although my memory is prety good so I need lots of time in between before I feel like I woudl enjoy a re-read.

I think it’s people who don’t like reading that feel they have to be seen reading the right books and that probably explains just why they don’t like reading! I don’t mind re-reading knowing the story as I feel I get a different view knowing what the story is leading up to and this makes me spot things that might not have looked significant the first time around. I only re-read favourites though.

I agree that’s one of the things I love about re-reading, seeing things I didn’t spot earlier or events that lead up to something else and you only understand the relevance when you alreayd know the ending. I don’t mind if I remember pieces, but I need at least a year between reads, else it still feels too fresh. I only re-read 4 or 5 star reads, usually only favourites.

What! How could you leave it hanging like that 🙂 LOL. I have to admit though that as much as I loved the whole series, that was my least favourite book in the trilogy (but it was still pretty great!). Hope you get to it soon.

I always think that those people who think their books have to be literary masterpieces are the ones who don’t like reading. Ump, hello! Read what looks good to you 🙂

  3. Alma @ Journey Through Fiction

Great answers, Trish! I completely agree with you about characters that love reading – I always end up loving them 🙂 I’d love to reread more! Before I began blogging, I’d constantly go back to old favourites, or even rereading the book immediately after I finished it! I miss it, actually :/ The temptation to keep moving on and reading new books for reviews is very hard to overcome!

If the character is either a reader or a blogger, it’s just fun as I know I identify with them. It’s even better when the book mentions what they are reading!

  4. Cait @ Paper Fury

I usually grab bargains too. 😉 I’m notorious for only buying cheap books….>_< No shame in rereading! I wish I had more time for it, and I so do need to finish HP for, um, the first time. My bad! I do love them, just haven't gotten to the last 3 books.
Thanks for stopping by @ Paper Fury!
