On the first day of Christmas, Trish recommended to me….

December 25, 2014 Bookish Fun, Giveaway 16

First off HAPPY CHRISTMAS!  I hope you are having a fantastic day and want to wish all of you reading happy and peaceful Christmas.

Last year I ran Twelve Days of Christmas recommendations but this year I decided it would be more fun to let a different bloggers take over a day.  My biggest recommendation today you this year is you check them out!  Trust them, they are book lovers, they won’t steer you wrong!

the twelve days of christmas

I have the pleasure of bringing you day one!

On the First day of Christmas, Trish recommended to me….

A THRILLER WHERE THE FAMILY ALL FLEE!

On the first day of Christmas, Trish recommended to me….No Time for Goodbye Goodreads

Fourteen-year-old Cynthia Bigge woke one morning to discover that her entire family, mother, father, brother had vanished. No note, no trace, no return.  Ever. Now, twenty-five years later, she'll learn the devastating truth

Sometimes better not to know. . . .

Cynthia is happily married with a young daughter, a new family. But the story of her old family isn't over. A strange car in the neighborhood, untraceable phone calls, ominous gifts, someone has returned to her hometown to finish what was started twenty-five years ago. And no one's innocence is guaranteed, not even her own. By the time Cynthia discovers her killer's shocking identity, it will again be too late . . . even for goodbye

I know!  That’s a hook and a half.  Why would a family all disappear and leave their teenage daughter behind with a zillions questions and no answers.  Guess you’ll just have to read No Time For Goodbye and find out why for yourself. If you love twisty thrillers in a family setting with lots of curve balls, then this one is highly recommended.

Over the next twelve days, some fantastic blogger elves will be bringing you recommendations for each of the following.  I’ll add links as they go live.  You know you are looking for reasons to splash those Christmas book vouchers around!

And the good news is that I read last year the total cost of all goods and of hiring all the people mentioned in the original song would be $27,393.  I guarantee you any recommended books you end up buying won’t cost that!  However to help you purchase one, try your luck at the giveaway.

Having a fab Christmas so far and hope you are too Anna 🙂 I’m glad I resurrected this feature again this year and I’m looking forward to visiting all the other recs too!

  2. Lola

So excited to be part of this hop this year :). I hope you have a fabulous christmas!
The blurb of this book sounds really interesting, not sure if it’s a book for me, but that blurb definitely catches your attention. And I think it’s funny it’s actually a book about a family disapearing.
Lola recently posted…Lola’s Ramblings: Merry Christmas!

I don’t think you read thrillers Lola but for anyone who likes psychological suspense, this one is a good read. It’s just such a mystery as to what happened her family. Hope you are having a lovely Christmas 🙂

I have really enjoyed any Linwood Barclay books that I read. I know that a follow up to this book came out this year but I haven’t had a chance to pick it up yet. Soon, I hope!
And yes Christmas has been really relaxing so far which was exactly what I wanted and needed.

Thanks Berls, I have a lot of fun with this feature. I did it last year as well but this year I got other bloggers to help me out which was a lot less work for me! And yes, such a great hook, how could anyone not want to know more!
