The Sunday Post : Get your Bookish News

July 20, 2014 meme, The Sunday Post 24

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  Grab a cuppa and let me bend your ear (eyes?) for a few minutes with all my bookish news.

Sunday Post

Randomness:

Look who’s back?  Trish, the prodigal blogger, is baaaack in the Sunday Post house!  Well I haven’t really been gone anywhere, I just haven’t had the time to join this meme with the longest time.  Right now I’m hoping to join in once a fortnight but we’ll just see how that goes.  So what have I been up to:

– Lots of reading but I suppose that is a given.

– I have been working on getting fit.  It’s a hard road back but I’ll get there.

– I went to two book events, my first ever events.  The first was a book launch in a castle.  I know, swanky!  It was for the launch of Carmel Harrington’s second book – The Life You Left.  Great launch and great book.

–  The second event was the Dublin Author Signing.  I went with the lovely Danielle from What Danielle Did Next and it was our first time meeting despite being blogger friends for over a year.  Can’t lie, I was nervous meeting up but we clicked just like I knew we would and we spent hours chatting about all the books like the book worms that we are.  There was a great line up at the event including Sylvia Day, K A Tucker and Cora Carmack and lots, lots more.  Oh and I bought some books too!

Second Chance Sunday – What happened here this week:

***********************************************************************************************************************************************

Second Chance Sunday – What caught my eye.  Why not go Sunday visiting?

Natalie from Natflix & Books is asking why, Publishers, why?! All about the difference in hardback and paperback covers.  As someone who will choose a paperback over a hardback anyday, I couldn’t agree more.

Jamie from The Perpetual Page Turner is co-hosting a A STEPHANIE PERKINS READALONG!  Sounds like fun 🙂

Nuz from Say It With Books is reflecting on the 2014 YA covers so far and is happy that the new trend seems to be less is more.  Do you agree with Nuz?

Author Angel Lawson has written a really interesting post about Navigating The Co-Dependant Relationship Between Bloggers and Authors.

Books I have received to review:

Going Back Accidently Married on Purpose About A GirlShatterAll Lined UpLet's Get Lost

Thanks to Rachel English for my copy of Going Back; a debut novel from a new Irish author.  I loved it and think I have found a new Green Giant!

Thanks to Edelweiss and Harper Collins for About A Girl.  Lindsey Kelk is already a firm favourite and I just eat up her books.

Thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for my copy of Accidently Married On Purpose.  This is a fun, swoony adult romance series set in New Orleans and I’m a huge fan.

Thanks to Cora Carmack who made my day (and Danielle’s) by giving us copies of her latest book All Lined Up.  I just love the humour in her books and I’m looking forward to settling down for a good laugh with this one.

Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Group for my copy of Shatter by Erin McCarthy.  I was auto approved for this one which rarely happens me but I have been loving this series so far so that’s probably why.  I love exciting emails like that one!

Thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin UK for my copy of Let’s Get Lost.  A super cute sounding YA book about a road trip?  That’s my kind of book.

Books I have bought:

All bought at the Dublin Authors signing and so all are signed which makes them extra special.

Five Ways To Fall Rusty Nailed Consequences

Between the Lines is also on facebook sharing details of kindle freebies and great giveaways as well as other random bits and pieces.  So if you use FB, please like my page and leave a comment so I can like you back!

One last thing, there is a competition running to win a hardback edition of Touched by Joanna Briscoe (open internationally).  A creepy ghost story, so if that’s your cup of tea, have a go and good luck!

Well, that’s  my week wrapped up.  Happy Reading to all.

I know! It was fantastic, the setting was amazing and the author must have felt like a queen for the day :). I don’t know how any future book launch will top that!

I’m a sucker for road trip books so I’m looking forward to this one. And yes, that cover is fab 🙂

  2. Jessica@Lovin' Los Libros

I love that you and Dani got to meet! YAY! That’s awesome! It’s always nerve-wracking to meet someone you click with online and chat with and wonder… will it be that way for real? LOL. I still haven’t read Wallbanger *sigh* but I plan to soon! So I’ll need Rusty Nailed afterwards! Happy reading girl! You got some awesome books!

I know Jess, it was fantastic! And we had a great time together and I even more jealous now of how you and all the girls must have felt at BEA 🙂
Wallbanger was good fun so when I saw Rusty Nailed I just had to pick it up. The humour reminds me of Tangled so I’d say you’ll love them when you get to them.

I’m excited to read Let’s Get Lost, too! I picked up a copy at BEA, but haven’t had a chance to get to it yet. Adi was so nice, too. I hope you love All Lined Up. I’ve loved each of Cora’s books, but this one just might be my favorite. (And if not, it’s a REALLY close tie with Faking It.) I loved Five Ways to Fall and Rusty Nailed was good, even if I didn’t love it the way I did Wallbanger. But Simon! <3

    Happy reading!

I’m reading All Lined Up today and I’m in love with it. I just love Cora’s humour but also I really fall for her characters.
Fingers crossed that Let’s Get Lost is as good as it looks 🙂

Welcome back to the Sunday Post 🙂 Good luck with your efforts to get fit, boy do I know how hard that road is – I’ve been working on it too, but it’s worth the effort. Have you joined Book Blog Walkers yet? We don’t just walk and it’s nice to motivate each other – it’s at Geeky Blogger’s Book Blog.

Anyway love the books you grabbed – I’m really curious about Accidentally married on purpose, I’ve seen it a few times now and the reviews have been good. Enjoy your new reads 🙂

Thanks Berls, I know I have read some of your fitness updates and you are flying! I will check out Book Blog Walkers sometime soon but trying to find the time to do so is another problem! It would be great to have another support system in place though to keep me on the fitness path 🙂

  5. Rita @ My Home of Books

Welcome back, and you posted a super cool Sunday Post today. I am going to check out your links. What fun to go to a castle for anything, but for a book event, wow. Glad you met a blogger friend in person. I know of several bloggers in my part of the world– I should arrange to meet up! Enjoy the week.

    • trish

Aw, thanks Rita 🙂 I know it was such a great venue and considering it was the first launch I ever went to, I just don’t know how future launches can ever measure up!
And yes, meeting blogger friends is nerve-wracking but I’d encourage you to go for it! It’s funny how you already ‘know’ them in a way that even people in their real life don’t. And all the book talk is even better in person 🙂

It’s on again in July 2015 Candace and it would be great fun to combine it with a holiday to Ireland 🙂

Thanks! The castle was fab, we did the tour beforehand and there is just so much history attached to it. It was a great day.
