Mini Bloggiesta January 25-26 #bloggiesta : The Master Plan!

January 21, 2014 Book Event, Bookish Fun 14

This weekend coming is mini bloggiesta time.  I have always wanted to participate in one of these but the timing never worked for me.  But this time around, the stars have aligned up right and I have free weekend.  So I’m getting ready to roll up my sleeves and get stuff done!

If you want to join in, click the banner.  Let’s all Get Stuff Done!

One of my new years resolutions is to participate in more community events so I’m delighted that this one is my first for 2014.  My plan is a bit ambitious but I won’t get too upset if I don’t achieve it all :

– Write two discussion posts and schedule them

– Brainstorm some ideas for the RE-readathon that I’m hosting with Chelsea @ Starbucks & Books Obsession in April.

– Make a list in my blogging journal on ideas I have for future discussions.  I often think of ideas, don’t write them down and then they vanish in to the dark recesses of my mind (not a good place!)

– Comment on the blogs in my blogroll.  These guys are my favs 🙂

– Finish my marketing your blog feature.  *red-faced* I kind of forgot about this and just dropped it mid air!

– Check my sidebar to see what changes I could make

– Add a filter on bloglovin for blogs that I enjoy and comment on frequently

– Update my blogger list on twitter and make an author one.  I love these lists as they make keeping up with those I want to keep up with so much more manageable.

– Update my NetGalley and Edelweiss profiles with current stats

– Make time to visit other bloggiesta participators and cheer them on.

– Create a banner for my Green Giants feature.  I have zero skills in this area so all advise is welcome!

OK, that’s enough for now!  If I achieve all that I’ll be very happy with myself.

Thanks, I’ve probably got way too many goals and will spend more time on twitter than working on them. We’ll see :O

Good luck with Bloggiesta! Maybe if they ever do a mid-week event (or extend the main event to include more weekdays than just Friday) I’d be able to get more out of it.

For banners, I’ve been using PicMonkey. You can’t do quite as much with it as you could with something like Photoshop… but it’s free!

I’ve had a few recommendations for PicMonkey now so I’ve tried using it. I have no skills whatsoever when it comes to graphics but that seems perfect for what I have in mind. I have never used Photoshop so I’ve nothing to compare it with 🙂

I have been working in PicMonkey this afternoon but it’s only now that I realise that I have created a scroll a little like yours for my Green Giants banner! Only a little though, it’s still different.

I’m planning to do some work on it tomorrow Chelsea so expect an email! I have been so busy with work that I haven’t had a chance to give it a second though but tomorrow I’ll rattle the brain cells 🙂

Why not indeed! I’m looking forward to my first one, you get to do some neglected blog work and meet some new bloggers. Win, win 🙂

Thanks Laurel, so far so good but I know I won’t get everything done. But even writing the list focused my mind on some tasks I need to attend to over the next while. It’s fun to see what everyone else is up to too 🙂

Thanks Jessica. Dust off that feature and bring it back, I say!! I don’t think it’s a problem to put something aside if you are not ‘feeling’ it and then bring it back when you are more into it. I’d rather do that than force something.
