Bookish Chat : Sharing my favourite book quotes

November 23, 2013 Bookish chat 9

I am a firm lover and hoarder of book quotes.  Whenever I find a special one I highlight it on my kindle and one of my favourite features of Goodreads is the ability to save your favourite quotes and display them on your blog.

Some of my favourites are those that reflect the special relationship people can have with books.  Of course I can relate!  These are some that are really special to me (note – all from pininterest and clicking on the link will take you to the original source).

Too fond of books

From Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.  And I know lots of people in my life probably think this about me too.  Especially my long suffering husband who often has to call my name numerous times just to get my attention!  And if I’m in the middle of a great book, then my mind is only half present during a conversation as the other half is still stuck in the book.

Careful

From Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare.  I haven’t read this book yet but I adore this quote.  Books have changed my opinions on so many things and made me a more empathetic person as I experience so much through them.

Special

From The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.  This!  Just says it all.  And the best thing about great books is that they stay with you forever.  And just when they start to fade, you can open them up and experience it all again.

I don’t actually collect quotes, but I do “like” my favorites on Goodreads. I really <3 the quotes you picked! I tend to get lost in books too 🙂 And I have yet to read The Book Thief (probably gonna watch the movie first now) but that quote is in my top ten.

I’m determined to read The Book Thief over the next few weeks. I have no idea why I kept putting it off as I really think I’ll love it.
I love being able to ‘like’ my fav quotes on GR as it’s fun to get a glimpse of them now and again. They make me smile again each time I see them. Or make me want to reread the book!

I collect book quotes, too. The ones you chose are great; I’m adding them to my collection. One of my favorite quotes is from Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen: “The person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid.”

Excellent quotes 🙂 I now have an urge to go and look for some cute pins with book quotes lol
I like book quotes a lot actually, when I read a book I try to highlight (ebook) or pencil underline (lightly, paperback) a moving quote from the book. I just like how quotes can really ring true and give you the feel of the book too.

    Yay for book quotes!

Oh, you underline real books! I never do that! I don’t mind defacing them, I just don’t take the time to it. Highlighting is one of fav features of ebooks, it helps when writing reviews too as my favs remind of exactly how I felt about the book.
