The Sunday Post – Get Your Bookish News!

August 18, 2013 The Sunday Post, TTT 0

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  Grab a cuppa and let me bend your ear (eyes?) for a few minutes with all my bookish news.

Second Chance Sunday – This is what happened here this week:

This Girl by Colleen Hoover – 3 star book review for an enjoyable read but not a great one.  I still love Colleen’s writing but I think retelling books are just not for me.

Blog Tour & Book Review : Solstice High by Ardash Vartparonian – 3.5 stars for a Twilight Zone meets Gossip Girl YA Paranormal book

Book Review : Emma A Latter Day Tale by Rebecca H. Jamison – 2.5 stars for an Emma based story that I felt mislead me

Dust off your Classics : The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett – A bit of a cheat this time!  I picked a much loved and well thumbed book from my collection for a reread

Blog Tour Review and Giveaway: Uninvited by Leah Spigel and Meg Summers – 3.5 stars for light-hearted, fun, fast paced YA with lots of giggles.  GIVEAWAY still open 🙂

Book Review : Escaping Reality by Lisa Renee Jones – 2.5 stars for a NA/Mystery book that frustrated me so much

BookWorm Memories : Bringing a Book to Life – Sharing my memories on recreating books in real life

Bookish Chat : My book review system  – Where I give you a glimpse at my freakishly, organised system for reviewing books I read

Second Chance Sunday – Some posts that caught my eye around the blogosphere.  Do yourself a favour and go Sunday Visiting?!

5 reasons your blog makes me sad – Kelley @ Another Novel Read shares what bothers her when reading blogs.  Are you guilty of any?  I confess to being useless at remembering to add the GoodReads link to my reviews even though I know it’s so handy.

Do Readers secretly wish to be writers? – Asti @  A Bookish Heart discusses if we all have hidden ambitions to be a writer.  Not me, I’m happy just to be a reader and reviewer.

Bookish Trends – CeCe @ Steaming Mug of Books discusses some trends that have been puzzling her.  I totally agree most of these only happen in books and not in real life.  If you are a front clasp bra wearer, designer clad student whose eyes change colour all the time be sure and go say hello to CeCe, she is looking for you!

Will I ever get to be in a book? – Reem @ I Read and Tell rants about lack of diversity in YA books and how she never reads about characters just like her.

Communicating through the medium of letters and poetry – Cayce @ Fighting Dreamer shares her thoughts on epistolary novels.

Bad Bookmarker – Ana @ Anahera Reads confesses that she is horrible with bookmarks.

Books I have received to review this week:

Painted Boots is for a book tour – I fell in love with the cover!
The One Plus One is from NetGalley – I adore this author and her previous book Me Before You is a book I will never forget (read pre-blog) so I was very excited to get this one.

Books I have bought this week:

My first Tiffany King book – I grabbed it while it was on special offer

So that’s  my week wrapped up.  Happy Reading to all.
