I’m rating Romancing the RA as somewhere between 2.5 stars and 3 stars for a very light, very short read.Romancing the RA by Ashelyn Drake

Noelle Buckman is looking forward to making a fresh start in college, one that doesn’t involve immature high school boys. The second she steps on campus for freshman orientation, she can sense the possibilities. Especially when she spots Andy, a resident advisor who’s not just hot but also thoughtful enough to open doors for a girl.
And Andy has his eye on Noelle. Even when her nerves take control and she thinks she comes off as a hillbilly with no direction, Andy can see what she’s really like and he’s more than a little interested.
But orientation is less than two full days and there’s an entire summer between Noelle and Andy. Will her attempt to romance the R.A. be as short-lived as college orientation?
I enjoyed the start of the book where Noelle is full of excitement about the possibilities of college life. I get this, I remember thinking when I started college I was going to reinvent myself and become more extrovert and outgoing. Hmmh, that didn’t exactly happen, new setting, same old me! I understand why Noelle is so excited about all the changes that are coming up though and feeling that great things are just around the corner.
It’s a very short book so we didn’t get much character development. And the plot was very predictable. Girl meets cute RA, after some initial flirting they are very attracted to each other and it all just felt too fast. And I hated that Noelle wanted to skip the dance that night as the RA wouldn’t be there. You have only known him 1 day and you already want to let your friend down, nice!
As far as novellas go, this was fun but could have been more. A little bit of substance would have left me feeling a lot more satisfied.
The best part of this book was that it was a twitter readalong with these girls, they even make a not great book much better fun:
Jessica From Lovin Los Libros
Danielle from What Danielle Did Next
Wendy from Book Scents
CeCe from CeCe’s Steaming Mug of Books
Chelsea from Starbucks & Books Obsession

Who should read Romancing the RA?:
If you like novellas and just want a short, sweet read. Just be aware that is all it is though.
