Top Ten Tuesday – Series I’d Like To Start

March 5, 2013 meme, TTT 15

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by one of my favourite blogs http://brokeandbookish.blogspot.ie

This week the theme is Top Ten Series I’d Like To Start But Haven’t Yet

But I’m going to go with 5 series for now, if I pick 10 series, I will never be done and not to mention broke!  Have to admit I’m a big lover of series, the only thing I like more than big books is a whole series of big books.  So on my to read sometime sooner rather than later list:

1.  Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor – very next series I will start thanks to a comment recommendation on my blog during the week

2.  A Song of Fire and Ice by George R.R. Martin – I feel like I’m the last person left in the world that has not either read the book or watched the TV series, need to retify that!

3.  Beautiful Creatures Series by  Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl – seen lots of friends recommend this one on Goodreads so need to get in on the action too

4.  Wolves of Mercy Fall series by Maggie Stiefvater – big fan of Maggie’s lyrical, poetic writing.  I know already I will love these.

5.  The Chemical Garden series by Lauren DeStefano – just look at that cover, love it

I’ve read Shiver, but not the others. What is Wither like?

I love Vampire Academy and Bloodlines (a spinoff of it). My favs.

    Thanks for sharing

Hi Jeanette, thanks for joining in. I want to read Vampire Academy but there are so many books its scaring me a little. Think I would love them though.
Haven’t read Wither yet but will be sure to review here when I do 🙂

I was pretty late to the Game of Thrones party and it took a huge effort to get into the first book, but once I got past the initial work, it was so worth it! I recently read and LOVED The Raven Boys, but honestly, The Wolves of Mercy Falls was not for me. Some of my favorite series are Gone by Michael Grant and The Gallagher Girls by Ally Carter. Totally different, totally awesome. http://wp.me/pzUn5-1r2

Thanks for stopping by and commenting! Loved the Raven Boys too, really looking forward to book 2. Not familiar with Gone so off now to GoodReads to find out more 🙂

New follower! Daughter of Smoke and Bone and Shiver are both really good. Oh and A Song of Ice and Fire is epic. I pretty much hated Beautiful Darkness (book 2) of the Caster Chronicles, but I do plan to try to finish the series!

    Check out my TTT.

Thanks Sandy, following you back 🙂
I’m looking forward to starting Daughter of Smoke and Bone, its my next series.
Hate when book 2 is a disappointment, you never know whether to continue and hope it gets better or to just abandon ship!

    • Trish Hannon

Thanks for stopping by, Daughter of Smoke and Bone is on so many TTT list’s, it must be fab, everyone is shouting about it. Fab cover too 🙂

  5. Marie

Hi, Trish! Sorry to be nitpicky, but the series by George R.R. Martin is actually called A Song of Ice and Fire, and A Game of Thrones is the first book. That said, I highly recommend the books, especially if you’re into the show or plan on watching the show.

If you’re looking for other good series, might I suggest His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman, Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan/Brandon Sanderson (I need to resume reading this series, actually), and Magic Ex Libris by Jim C. Hines (the second book is coming out later this year!)?

    Great post! 😀

    • Trish Hannon

Marie, I don’t mind nitpicky, stops me making a fool of myself! Will change that pronto 🙂 I have seen bits of the show but would rather read first and then watch, I’m always odd like that.
Will have a look at your other 2 recommendations too, thanks.

LOVED Daughter of Smoke and Bone!! It was so good and so different from the usual paranormals out there. I’ve read all of the ones on your list except for The Chemical Garden series and I agree, that is a gorgeous cover!

PS- Thank you so much for following my blog 🙂

Thanks for following Christyn. Have yet to meet a person who didn’t love Daughter of Smoke and Bone, can’t wait to get started on it.

Oh, Beautiful creatures. I wanted to start it before the movie came out and missed my chance. I guess we can do it before the DVD :p

Thanks for stopping by. New follower.

The Laini Taylor books are amazing. She has such a unique voice, and she’s one of my favorites.

I’m reading Beautiful Creatures right now, and I’m seriously underwhelmed. It seems silly and almost childish. Nevertheless, I’m determined to finish. (Plus, I’ve already purchased the other 3 books!)

I’ve got all three of the Chemical books checked out from the library, so I expect to start those soon.

    Thanks for visiting my blog!

    DAUGHTEROFSMOKEANDBONE OMFG OMFG *SQUEEEEE!*

^^ the sound my fangirling makes.

I’ve read A Game Of Thrones, the first of A Song Of Ice And Fire. It was good, but it didn’t have nearly enough fantasy elements to it, in my opinion. Very heavy on politics, and it’s got great characterization.

I want to read Beautiful Creatures, though I’m kind of wary because I’ve heard a lot of…not-so-good things about it. Still, I’ll probably give it a try if only because it’s been turned into a movie.

    Great list!
